[Updated] Kink.com CEO: ‘Rod Gave It To Cameron’

Kink.com’s heterosexual CEO Peter Acworth has told the San Francisco Chronicle that it was Rod Daily, a gay porn performer who always wore condoms, who infected his girlfriend Cameron Bay, a straight porn performer who never wore condoms, with HIV. I guess it’s time for a moratorium on all gay porn productions then, right?

Acworth, who was arrested last year for cocaine possession, also tells the Chronicle that he has “confidence” there was no HIV transmission on set. Well, of course there wasn’t. No one in straight porn can have HIV! (Until now, of course, but it was the gay guy’s fault).

Gosh, with everything Peter Acworth is so certain of about HIV transmission, it’s truly a shame that he’s wasting his talents as the CEO of an S&M porn studio and not working as an infectious disease doctor.

Daily performed mostly in gay scenes, Acworth said. The industry standard is for actors in gay scenes to wear condoms to protect against transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. Condoms are optional for actors in straight scenes, but testing is mandatory.

“We can say with some degree of confidence that there was no transmission on set” involving Daily, Acworth said. “Rod Daily wore condoms in all his scenes. The strong indication is that Rod contracted it and transmitted it to Cameron Bay.”

Strong indication? While Bay tested HIV-positive over two weeks ago, Daily’s initial test around the same time came back negative. It wasn’t until his more recent follow-up test, Daily claims, that HIV antibodies were present. The strong indication to me, based on the timeline and the evidence, is that Daily—whose gay porn performances have always been with condoms—became infected after Bay, but then again I’m not the straight CEO of a major porn studio blindly and illogically speculating to a major newspaper about how the gay performer obviously infected the straight performer with HIV, so what do I know?

And you thought anonymous people on Twitter hurling anti-gay hate speech was bad.

UPDATE: Kink’s Peter Acworth has posted a comment below in response to the Chronicle interview:

I had quite a long conversation with this Chronicle reporter only hours after Rod had come out positive on twitter.

I was ill prepared and the quotes the reporter chose were selective. If indeed I was accurately quoted, I should have thought more carefully about what to say. I am sorry to Rod and Cameron if they are offended. It must have taken a great deal of courage for both of them to come out as they did in a selfless act to protect others.

In defense of my other comments, it is true to say that Rod performed only in condom scenes at kink.com, and it is also true that everyone who performed with Cameron have since tested negative via the most sensitive RNA tests. I believe it is a fair assessment to say with a strong degree of confidence that no transmission took place on set.

As to how the transmissions actually took place, you are absolutely correct that is none of my business and it is disrespectful to speculate, and I am sorry I did.

  1. the hetro performer could still be right.if the gay guy tested using a standard antibody test then they can realistically take up to 8 weeks to detect antibodies, for conservatism the manufacturers claim conclusive reliability at 3 months post exposure where as the RNA test would often detect hiv infection at 10 days.america tends to use standard antibody tests rather than hiv duo tests which cost more but also screen for p24 antigen which is independent of immune response.this test combined with highly sensitive antibody screening is considered by experts as fully conclusive at 4 weeks but to be safe manufacturers claim 3 months to be conclusive.the rna test is not an approved standalone test and should be used in conjunction with antibody screening.its not really a sensitivity issue, its a time issue.rna tests will often pick up a new infection after 7-10 days whereas a duo/combi test will usually pick up a recent infection after 28 days.however there is no test marketed and sold to give a fully conclusive result before 3 months post exposure.experts believe this is way overconservative, but thats not a bad thing considering we are dealing with health

  2. This is interesting because i have seen many many many people on Bound In Public in bareback videos…. would make more sense if he caught it from the Kink production.

    1. His Bound In Public and most of his kink scenes had a lot of gay4pay guys as well, not the guys who have done bareback videos. It’s highly unlikely this happened on set. The most likely scenario is he got it from barebacking with a man/men in his personal life or as an escort and either the condom broke or was purposefully tampered with (some men are sick like that).

  3. It’s not about gay or straight, it’s about choices. Rod is a known male escort. Cameron is a drug addict criminal. (Not judging people who have made mistakes but 17 arrests shows reckless behavior.) They both are reckless people. Obviously. HIV doesn’t just “happen” to anyone. Someone was engaged in high risk behavior and got HIV. Plain and simple. I’m angry and judgmental not over gay or straight but reckless people engaging in high risk behavior that in turn shuts this industry down while putting lives at risk.

  4. Wait. With gay studio after gay studio going bareback to satiate the gay community’s appetite for raw sex…with the HIV infection rate rising among the younger gay community…with gay advocate after gay advocate beating the drum for the “it’s no longer a death sentence, never mind the cost for meds and the questionable success rate” drum, are we really going to bitch when someone states the obvious?

  5. I just watched an interview with Rod Daily and Michael Lucas. Rod Daily seems like a really nice guy. He says, he doesn’t consider himself gay. He told Michael Lucas, he consider himself sexual because he doesn’t like labels. I tried watching videos of Rod Daily being fucked by Michael Lucas online and on Lucas Entertainment and the videos have been removed or they are no longer there.

  6. We really don’t know Rod Daily or Cameron’s personal sex life. They could be having threesomes together, have an open relationship, or both could be hooking on the side for money. I personally don’t know the HIV transmission rate from infected females to males, but anything is possible.

  7. How does he know what happened ? Has he ever heard of no comment. Some people will do anything to get press, and get more people to their website. Rod came out said he would reveal the results and he did disclose them like he said and to top that off he retired. And so far he has made no other comments. Case closed.

  8. Well they can’t blame it on the gays this time. Those poor Gay4Payers seem to always get it in the end, in some form or fashion.
But hey maybe if T.I.M. offers him enough $$$$$$ maybe he will take a few loads up his ass. Rod has no problem taking a stiff one if the money is right.
A DOLLAR, MAKE YOU HOLLA, HONEY BOO BOO CHILD!

    1. a gay disease. And it is not. Its so obvious that this happened to two straight people. And its obvious who got it first, yet again because Rod did gay porn it had to have come from him cause straight people can’t give each other HIV. Did you even go to college bro?

        1. Quite a few people are using that as conclusive proof he was the originator of the two. Meanwhile, it is pretty well known that Cameron also escorts… did she insist on condoms when escorting? Considering Rod always wore condoms in videos and she never had sex with partners that did… who is more likely to go without a condom with a trick?

          1. Rod has admitted to always using condoms on set and that she was the only one he didn’t use condoms with her. Soooo 1+2=3(insert side eye)

    1. Hi Everyone, sorry for stating what i really feel. Here’s a half-ass apology, now please continue to buy my gay kink videos.

  10. Zach,

There is no such thing as ‘HIV antibodies’. The lack of antibodies (specifically, CD4/CD8 T-cells) is used as an indicator of HIV, as these are readily susceptible to retroviral infection and will diminish in the serum.

      1. Are you a virologist? Isn’t there a way to determine the source of the infection through DNA testing (or rather RNA in the case of a retrovirus)?

          1. Uh, the body DOES indeed form antibodies to HIV. CD4 counts are used to monitor the effectiveness of antiretroviral therapy.

Christ, someone should take away your degree.

  11. Rod Daily may not want to point fingers, but everyone else is, and I feel as though Rod may not have a choice and will have to admit and say who is at fault for his status. It’s very likely that he got it from his girlfriend, and if that is true, then Rod has every right to sue Acworth for slander. I have a feeling he will continue to be publicly shamed for this, and it will be due to all this fingerpointing.

    1. “It’s very likely that he got it from his girlfriend…”

Uh, no, it is NOT very likely that he got it from his girlfriend. It is difficult in the extreme to contract HIV from the receptive party in a sex encounter. She’d need to have been infected for months and literally sloughing off HIV virions. I’m talking ’bout having sex with menstrual blood and Daily with an inch-wide gash on his penis. There’s a reason African-American women are the fastest rising demographic contracting HIV – black men on the DL are giving it to them!

      1. What is it with you people. In all these articles there are three or four of you wandering around spouting out shit you heard on the playground decades ago.

Spend two seconds and rub a couple of your atrophied neurons together. There’d be no such thing as an HIV epidemic to begin with if it was so OMG SUPER DUPER HARD for women and bottoms to pass it to a top. Fuckin hell. You think this rampant horde of ONLY TOPS you morons believe are responsible for 99.99999999% of HIV infections are getting it from the air?

Seriously. Do yourself a favor. Get a little educated.

        1. This is all basic HIV knowledge. Semen is the best vector for HIV transmission (via sexual intercourse). Virus remains in semen even when viral load is undetectable in men undergoing anti-retroviral treatment.

          1. hahahahahahahaha. You actually came back to defend your ignorance? That’s adorable.

I hate to break it to you, but in the intervening years between whenever you picked up that knowledge (I’m guessing pre-germ-theory, somewhere near the Industrial Revolution) and today’s reality, the medical community discovered all sorts of wacky fluids in the body. You wouldn’t believe how much fluid runs around in bodies that are mostly water! Including, you know, that silly little thing called blood that tends to release itself at the slightest injury to body tissue, including the micro-tears and abrasions that are a byproduct of friction, and thus all sex, in both partners involved.

Now, I’d recommend here that you take a deep breath and prepare yourself to have those two teeny tiny little neurons we talked about earlier blown away: semen is not, in fact, a better vector for blood-borne illnesses than blood. SHOCKING, I know! I nearly fell out the chair when I found out my own damn self!

Do your sexual partners a favor, print up a card letting them know you don’t actually understand how STDs work, and have them sign the dotted line before the clothes come off.

          2. I mean, lmao, the function of a vagina is literally to COAT ITSELF IN BODY FLUIDS during arousal. Seriously. Seeeeeeeriously. You need to get a clue.

  12. Zach you are referring to different methods of testing when you say positive/negative so it doesn’t really make sense as such. Some distinctions need to be made.

Rod said his ANTIBODIES test came back negative up until last week . Antibodies can take anywhere from 3 to 6 weeks to show up with the latest generation of ELISA tests that detect them.

But the RT-PCR test that detects viral RNA, you don’t need to wait until the antibodies show up to be declared positive. This method of testing is the standard on porn sets and it’s the one that was used to detect Cameron Bay’s status.

When you go to a regular clinic or hospital, they spontaneously give you the antibodies test because it’s a lot cheaper and generally reliable unless the exposition is extremely recent.

I don’t know exactly what happened though and Rod himself said he didn’t want to point fingers, so I understand the CEO’s wish to protect his business but it’s a bit shady.

  13. I don’t know that it’s that outrageous. If no other performers he or Cameron have shot with have tested positive, then it’s very unlikely that it was transmitted on set. In the Kink stuff, condoms were used on all his scenes, and testing on some of them in addition.

    1. Why is the owner of a company going to a newspaper and blaming the gay one when it appears to be the exact opposite? why is the owner of a company going to a newspaper to talk about which one of his employees gave the other one HIV (when it’s nearly impossible to know anyway!) at all??? Absurd.

      1. Testing positive first doesn’t mean she contracted it first.

She got tested on August 21st. Rod’s last test prior to his latest one was on July 10th.

His ANTIBODIES showed up negative, for which there is a 6 weeks window period with the latest ELISA tests.

The RT-PCR test Cameron Bay used detects HIV after 17 days of contamination on average.

I don’t want to make assumptions about anything but I don’t like people who don’t know what they are talking about either.

LET IT BE CLEAR I DO NOT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED BUT SOME POINTS NEED TO BE CLEARED UP AND IT DOESN T MAKE YOU A BETTER PERSON TO SLANDER THE WOMAN INSTEAD OF THE GUY.

Sometimes silence is a better option. I don’t think either of these performers wanted this attention in the first place.

  14. Didnt’ you know, Zach? It’s only us dirty gay people that spread pestilence and disease. Which is why the condom Nazis have left straight porn unperturbed. despite the fact that, for them, bareback is the norm, not the exception.

    1. Bareback is not the exception in gay porn. It’s pretty much 50-50 now going on 60-40 in favor of bareback.

The difference is that HIV+ people don’t work in the straight porn industry ( which has very strict testing protocols, the same that Sean Cody, Chaosmen and Corbin Fisher use from what I have read) but it keeps being said that more than half of gay porn performers are HIV+.

I don’t know how true this statement is but it pops up everywhere, and I just hope that serodiscordant people are not being paired together (even though co infections with different strains of the virus is pretty damn awful and public health concern for society in general, so poz people really shouldn’t bareback between themselves either, but I digress)

The demographic is different in any case, and it has been established, since all of Cameron’s porn partners have been tested since the incident, that she did not contract it on a porn set.

      1. Strict protocols? Maybe on HIV, but up until recently there was zero Hep C testing and it recently came out that a male performer had a positive Hep C test since 2010 and continued to work until recently. That is VERY relevant in the straight world where extreme sex acts that have become extremely popular in the last decade or so in straight porn (fisting, double penetration, anal gangbangs, BDSM, etc….) The costs of treating Hep C are sky high in cost and take up to a year to complete. Plus there a some bad side effects of it and not a guarantee that the treatment will actually work.

Also, there is no testing for herpes in the porn industry, a chronic life long condition where the costs are high, and because of the body’s inability to fight off infections as well as it did when we were younger, the outbreaks will become more frequent.

Ask the girls and guys that were affected by the Mr. Marcus syphilis outbreak last year how “strict” those protocols were.

        1. 100% to this post. People seem to forget there are other STDS out there that are no picnic either and can be just as lethal in the long run as HIV.
And the straight porn industry did not test for any of those.

  15. Oh those sodomites and their gay lifestyle. Always the reason why bad stuff is happening. Floods, volcano eruptions, International Male catalog. It’s all the gays’ fault.
