Earlier this week, XBIZ published its first-ever main feature story about a gay studio on its cover. The subject? Falcon Studios and its 50th anniversary! Among many various topics, the nine-page story features a long conversation with Falcon|NakedSword President Tim Valenti where he talks about why he won’t let anyone film on his New Mexico farm, what it’s like running a gay institution like Falcon, and the future of the studio.
The spread also features several quotes from famous Falcon models of years past, its current creative team, and queer personalities that truly appreciate the importance of Falcon Studios. In the piece, these notable names reveal their favorite models, which movies they watched back in the day, and even the Falcon legends they hang out with in real life.
To celebrate this history-making feature in XBIZ, we’re going to be taking a look at all the names, movies, and projects that those celebs mentioned during their interviews! Take a look below to figure out which performers caught the attention of icons like John Waters, Latrice Royale, and Michael Musto. After you’re done with that, be sure to read the full Falcon profile right now over on XBIZ.
John Waters
Famed queer director John Waters spoke to XBIZ about Falcon Studios and revealed that he first discovered the studio “when VHS first came out and finally you could jerk off at home and not in some crummy dive theater with trolls trying to blow you and rats biting your ankles.”
He went on to say that “Falcon is like MGM or Paramount,” describe the studio as “a real dick star factory,” and say that Falcon is “the class act of porn production.” The director ended his portion of the article by proclaiming that models Lee Ryder (pictured above), Johnny Davenport, and Jeff Stryker were the “Holy Trinity.”
Latrice Royale
RuPaul’s Drag Race queen Latrice Royale told XBIZ that back in their heyday, “it was the boys of Falcon that were touring and dancing in the clubs” and they were “packing in the gays to see these men of film.”
The season four contestant also stated that Colton Ford, Matthew Rush (pictured above), Cameron Fox, and Chad Hunt “were constantly in my circle.” Latrice says that she’s “partied with these dudes” and they’ve even been by her house for after-hour parties.
Mickey Boardman
Paper Magazine editor Mickey Boardman told XBIZ he’s known about Falcon for as long as he’s known about porn. He described the “muscled, tanned dreamboats” that were models for the porn studio and says “the brand will always represent that California muscle-man ideal.” He then dropped the Erik Rhodes and Jason Adonis film The Farmer’s Son (pictured above) as a project that will always have a special place in his heart.
Sister Roma
Falcon|NakedSword creative director and “the most photographed nun in the world” Sister Roma was also interviewed for this piece! During her segment of the “Golden Greetings” portion in the XBIZ piece, Roma gets into the “undeniable” legacy Falcon Studios has left on gay culture and talks about Michael Youens (aka drag performer Shante) introducing her to stars like Chad Donovan, Aiden Shaw (pictured above), and Kevin Williams back in the early 90s. The San Francisco drag icon even stated that she still remains friends with those stars to this day.
Toby Morris
Another Falcon|NakedSword family member! When asked about Falcon Studios by XBIZ, VP of sales and marketing Toby Morris named Quarterback Sack and Flashpoint: Hot As Hell (pictured above) as two of his favorite Falcon projects that he loved to watched before he worked with the company.
“When I started watching porn, I was really into Roman Heart, Matthew Rush, Erik Rhodes, and Ty Colt,” said Morris. “And of course, the huge stars of the past like Al Parker, Lee Ryder, Mike Branson, Aiden Shaw, and Ken Ryker – to name a few.”
Michael Musto
For his quotes in the XBIZ article, journalist and king of gossip Michael Musto stated that Falcon has certainly “never been boring” with its stable of stars and directors and the studio’s “vivid exercises in unapologetic gay sex have helped many males come out of the closet with a bang and stay there.”
Michael also added that he’ll never forget “Leo Ford and his flirtation with Divine, Joey Stefano and his flirtation with everyone and Gus Mattox (pictured above) — and his side career today as an accomplished musical director.”
My all time great Falcon scene is Aiden Shaw and J.T. Sloan in New Pledgemaster.
There are so many greats who came out of that studio, but my all-time favorite remains Mike Branson — his incredible body, huge dick and creamy loads never failed to deliver.
Matthew Rush will always be my baby. Fell in love with him back in 02 and still love him till this day. I’m so glad he’s trying to get his life back in order. He’s awesome and he’s really kind. I do get a chance to interact with him occasionally on social media and he’s always a polite gentleman.
I also had and have a super crush on Jose Enrique. He was beautiful. I remember the threesome he had with Barrett Long and Ralph Woods. I loved him. Wonder where he is nowadays.
Wow, thank you for that trip down memory lane… I have to agree that many of those stars are among the ones whom I think of. For me in my formative years.. what drew me to porn, much like John Waters, were my “Holy Trinity,” Jeff Stryker, John Davenport, and Ryan Idol. Yes, I know Ryan became a mess… but at the time, the guy was HOT. And the three Falcon films that stand out for me are “Flashpoint,” “Other Side of Aspen IV,” and “Billyʻs Tale.” (Yeah thatʻll give you an idea of what era I grew up in hahaha). Thanks for the trip!
Wow, thank you so much for this!
I feel the 70/early 80’s were great for gay porn (and porn in general sense). I used to collect Falcon Studio VCRs in the past, but a boyfriend took them away. My first one was a Kevin Williams` movie. Loved him since <3.
I really would like to visit to one of the old scenes, party with these actors after. Everything would probably be different.
Sadly, I’m a 90’s kid, and I never cruised before the internet nor date before Grindr. I feel things used to be different, but I could be wrong ://
Anyway, thank you again for this post! Really loved this <3
I’ve seen vintage videos of the early performances of Matthew Rush and few guys were as physically beautiful as him.
isn’t he meth head now? Didn’t he also get arrested for meth. A really sad downfall story.
I don’t know if he had anything to do with math, but he ‘roided out to the max and went ink crazy.
Who is this?
That’s Tristan Hunter.
Tristan hunter, he’s a pretty boring performer.
