Listen Up, Faggot: Tommy Sparks’ “She’s Got Me Dancin”

He once wanted to be a rapper, he grew up on the Pixies and Talking Heads, moved to the UK, wrote an album, toured with Bloc Party, got a record deal, and now here he is with his second music video, which is directed by Eric Wareheim from bizarre, psychedelic, stoner sketch comedy show, Tim & Eric’s Awesome Show, Great Job.

His first release, I’m a Rope, is an assaultive, altern-y rock track which might connect better with Bloc Party fans.  But we cannot get enough of this little piece of 80s-ish pop candy gold, “She’s Got Me Dancin,” the video for which features a middle-aged female bodybuilder nicknamed Muscle Lady, a trio of dancing hippies, and the above pictured beauty in a gold jacket who plays neon drums before showing us his laser-loaded tits. It’s the catchiest thing to come out of the UK since these boys.

  1. It may have ’80s pop influences, but I’m most reminded of the Ohio Players’ disco hit, “Love Roller Coaster.”

Compare the basic guitar hooks, and forgive the cheesey SIMS visuals — it’s the only clean recording on Youtube:
