Porn star Matthew Camp is opening up on social media about a recent attack against his life. The popular performer just told fans that an unnamed suspect poured gasoline on his Poughkeepsie home earlier this week, causing a fire that burned for over three hours.
“In the early morning of January 14, 2021, Matthew Camp’s home shared with his friend Six Carter was targeted in an apparent hate crime where an unknown person poured gasoline on the front porch creating an explosion that woke Matthew up giving him moments to get himself and roommate out in safety,” reads a GoFundMe page for Camp.
The fundraiser page also noted that the brutal house fire left “no personal possessions salvageable inside.” Images from the fire show the damaged house with multiple walls burned down and mass amounts of destroyed furniture inside the blackened home.
“I am alive to face this person one day but everything I have ever owned is gone,” wrote Camp on Instagram. “Share this story because queer people are still under attack all over the world. Our voices will not be silenced. Right now I’m just living day to day trying to piece together what’s left.”
In addition to the pictures of the aftermath, Camp and his GoFundMe page also shared pictures and video of a person that appears to be pouring gasoline on Camp’s porch. The video shows a masked individual in a hoodie carrying two large containers onto the porch, setting one down, and then spraying the property.
Local police said that the suspect then ignited the liquid and fled the scene. In a Facebook post, the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department stated that they “quickly determined the fire was an arson.”
Camp’s GoFundMe page was launched by his friend Six Carter and Slag Wars, a Men.com reality show hosted by Camp, producer Topher Cusumano. The page states that its mission is to “give Matt the chance to rebuild his life and replace some of his belongings as he attempts to recover from this horrendous event.” The page’s goal is currently set at $60,000.
Since posting about the horrific fire early this morning, Camp has received love and support from many in the porn and gay community on social media. People like Andy Cohen, Thorgy Thor, Miss Fame, Bright Light Bright Light, Mickey Taylor and Milk all reached out in the comment section of Camp’s Instagram. Others like the Cock Destroyers, Jaremi (formerly known as Phi Phi O’Hara), and Max Konnor sent their love on Twitter.
“To everyone reaching out, sending love, or even donating: I have never felt so blessed. I lost everything but feel like the luckiest guy on earth,” Camp wrote in an Instagram story. “I’m sorry if I miss a message or a comment but know I’m going to try to respond as best I can. I love you.”

What a lose. This wasn’t any old house. It was the “Halloween House”. Itr was built in 1870 and was part of the Poughkeepsie Historic District and Landmarks. Ask Matthew to explain why it is called the “Halloween House”.

I couldn’t agree more. I pay thousands per year for various types of insurance and am tired of people not bothering to pay premiums, hoping for others to cough up money when something like this happens.
