Does size matter? Apparently, it does, for mental health reasons at least. A new study from the scientific journal The Aging Male found there is a correlation between men’s genital self-image and the likelihood of depression, anxiety, and sexual malfunction. So basically hung guys have fewer self-image issues and therefore are less prone to depression, anxiety, or sexual problems, like erectile dysfunction. Now we know why Pete Davidson always has that goofy smile.
The study included 75 male participants. The guys were between the ages of 26 and 72. The research was conducted between March and June of 2022. In the end, the study found that “disruption of men’s genital self-perception is moderately related to their susceptibility to depression and anxiety. This situation affects the person’s sexual performance and causes orgasm problems to increase.”
It wasn’t just about length here, fellas. The genital self-image (or GSI as they called it) takes into account flaccid and hard length and girth. Score one for the girth queens! Actually, the study said it was girth and not length that most men obsessed over. “Many studies have shown that men who are not satisfied with their penis do not like the thickness of their penis.”
However, there’s one big blind spot, all the participants identified as heterosexual. It would be interesting to see how men’s genital self-image affected men who also slept with men and experienced other bigger and smaller size penises in their sexual life.
Researcher Adil Emrah Sonbahar told PsyPost that men shouldn’t rush to change themselves surgically to enhance their genitals because of this study.
“We are not sure that all the surgeries are necessarily beneficial,” he warned. “I think while planning these kinds of surgeries, a serious investigation must be scheduled, not only for the success of surgeries but also for the happiness of patients after the procedures.”

Personally, I hate to say it, but these findings are pretty spot on for me. Being an African-American man, I still deal with the awful BBC stereotype and have been laughed at for my size. One of the last things my ex said to me was “No wonder we’re breaking up: you can’t top me and you are too tight for me – What good are you?” and shit like that still hurts.
