No, You Probably Won’t Get HIV Through Oral Sex

Recently, some of you have been debating the risk of HIV transmission through oral sex in the comments on various posts here. Some of you have been going so far as to leave your comments about oral sex and HIV on posts that have nothing to do with oral sex and HIV, but I’m not approving those comments, so you’re wasting your time. However, if you still want to debate the risk of HIV transmission through oral sex, this is the post to do it in. But first, watch this video of my favorite cum whore Gabriel Clark swallowing cum.

The risk of getting HIV through oral sex is “low” according to the CDC, “zero” according to most major studies (including this one from UCSF), and “swallow,” according to me. There is, of course, always some risk of catching some sort of STD whether you are sucking dick, fucking, or even kissing, and it’s up to you to protect yourself. Not a blog. Not a blog commenter. Not gay porn stars.

If you’re unsure of something, talk to your doctor. Or, just abstain from sex and argue with people in the comments on a blog.

  1. if you could i’d have gotten it a long time ago. i must have swallowed over a gallon and loved every last drop! seriously i average at least a quart a year (1 teaspoon per squirt, 132 teaspoons to a quart). so many dudes i’m with cant cum in a condom so i finish ’em off orally.

  2. And then there are those *2* close friends of mine who are positive and will tell you, 1 is an anal virgin (young) and 1 not a virgin but always uses condoms for anal. Both were infected orally. We share everything, there’s no reason to lie. It’s rare, yes, but not non-existent, so let’s stop pretending like it’s a “safe” activity. It’s NOT, it’s “safer” than other acts, but the risk is still higher than no fluid transmission. Stomach acid kills but open sores on the lips ormolu don’t (how many out there bite their chapped lips or brush just a little too hard?? None right??) (excuse the icky medical non-sexy talk). People can make their choices and do whatever they want, but let’s make sure the choices they make are well educated, well informed and they know the REAL risks.

  3. I would suggest that instead of listening to Zach, Estelle and myself, anyone who is sexually active should do extensive reading on the topic of the risk of HIV transmission and oral sex and consult their own health care provider and experts in the medical field in the treatment of HIV/Aids. I think that a good place to start is by checking out: CDC.gov/HIV Aids Topics. In the mean time, it is always better to be safe than sorry. Use a condom, they come in many flavors.

    1. And I would suggest that you get your information from people that aren’t alarmist and over hysterical. Jack in the 30 years that HIV has been known about, studied, and analyzed there has yet to be a single case where oral sex was proven to be what caused someone to seroconvert.

      1. You are absolutely 110% WRONG on thelat statement and it is well documented in the medical literature. Whether you are aware of it or chose to ignore it are your own issues, but simple google searches debunk your statement. As someone who has followed the path of the disease for 2 decades, I can assure you your intel is bogus.

  4. OK I have a non-HIV semen question that maybe someone can give me a straight answer to. I read that there’s not a lot of harm in swallowing semen, but yet I heard stories where people get their stomach pumped due to excessive swallowing. The majority of these stomach pump stories involve the person ingesting a large quantity of semen from various men. Is it the large amount of semen that would cause a stomach pumping, or that the large amount of semen came from more than one man?

  5. When swallowing load after load watch for bloody gaping wounds in the mouth otherwise you’re fine. I’m so tired of being petrified to do anything sexually in fear of getting HIV then AIDS and then dying a slow and painful death. Its 2012 people. Be smart, open wide and guzzle down some sweet manjuice.

    1. so have you swallowed load after load? and youre still neg?? i’d love too…..i just wish i wasn’t so afraid of sex…just when i get ready to do something i end up hearing some story bout some guy thats poz and never bottomed etc etc…i get an hiv test then i try to stay celebate so i can feel relaxed for as long as possible. were you ever this paranoid budgiebird?? how you get over it ??

  6. 8% of recent San Francisco infections due to oral sex
    Keith Alcorn, Keith Alcorn
    Published: 05 March 2001
An investigation of new HIV infections in San Francisco has revealed that even using the most stringent criteria, 8% of infections can be attributed to oral sex.

The findings reinforce concerns amongst clinicians and prevention workers that many gay men may be underestimating the HIV transmission risk of oral sex.

The study involved 122 infections identified in San Francisco between 1996 and 1999, of which 20 were attributed to oral sex by the infected individuals. When doctors questioned patients more closely, 12 cases were excluded because HIV exposure through unprotected anal intercourse could not be ruled out. However, eight men had no other potential risk factors, and all said that they viewed oral sex as carrying little or no risk for HIV infection.

    1. “…attributed to oral sex by the infected individuals.” LOL! This isn’t a study, this is a survey wherein anyone can say whatever they want. Nice try.

      1. Yep, and the study was criticized and discredited. If I remember, the researchers did absolutely no follow ups and didn’t ask much in the way of probing or follow up questions.

Remember Andrew Sullivan claimed he got HIV from oral sex then was caught soliciting bareback sex online a few years later?

There are a lot of guys that are too embarrassed to admit they didn’t wear a condom despite the information about HIV transmission being available for over 30 years.

  7. i love seeing it its soo hot to me..and more and more its all over the place…alas i’m one of those that’s too afraid…sheezz anytime i’ve fucked i need to make sure the condom is on him still half way through …i dont think i’d ever be able to try bb..no matter if hes a bf or not…i had two gay buds , been together for 15 yrs …one day one tests poz..he never told his bf he was fuckin bb…stories like that makes my dick shrink. i wonder how good these tests are that these studios give, NONE of these kids er i mean models looks like they would honestly know anything about a test and no doubt trust the porn studio..good luck with that

  8. The line they taught us for this question when I worked at the California AIDS hotline was that it was “technically possible but very very highly unlikely”.

Basically from what they know of how HIV works, it should be possible but for some reason that scientists has not identified (which is why they still leave the door open to the possibility since they can’t say with certainty why it would be otherwise) it seems that it has never been proven to happen and real-life observations seem to indicate it just does not happen.

Theories go from the simple fact it is unlikely the right circumstances would unfold in real-life (noone gives a blowjob with an actively bleeding wound … yeah sore gums and stuff can create openings but they are not *actively* bleeding which is what would be required) to the notion that saliva may have some level of protective effect.

There is no definitive answer but even if it turns out it is possible, 30 years of HIV has proven the risk to be so infinitesimal that it has never been proven. It is only because the theory of HIV transmission does not explain why there would be an exception for oral sex and scientists do not like to make affirmations they can’t back up with evidence or a coherent explanation that the door is still left ajar in official documents.

  9. I dunno. Somehow I feel it would be appropriate (knowing how the other comments were left) to talk about a zucchini bread recipe on this post now.

    1. Paula Deen’s Zucchini Bread

      3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
      1 1/2 teaspoons salt
      1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
      2 teaspoons baking soda
      1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
      3 cups sugar
      1 cup vegetable oil
      4 eggs, beaten
      1/3 cup water
      2 cups grated zucchini
      1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, nutmeg, baking soda, cinnamon and sugar. In a separate bowl, combine oil, eggs, water, zucchini and lemon juice. Mix wet ingredients into dry, add nuts and fold in. Bake in 2 standard loaf pans, sprayed with nonstick spray, for 1 hour, or until a tester comes out clean. Alternately, bake in 5 mini loaf pans for about 45 minutes.
