[NSFW] Ken Probst: ‘Pornographic’

The scans are from Ken Probst’s Pornographic (1998). The source is this Russian on LiveJournal.

I love the balance Probst strikes between crew and performer, and the way he places boner-inducing hot sexy times alongside some of the clinical, flaccid, dead-eyed moments that make behind-the-scenes footage so compelling.

You may recognize longtime powerhouses like Donni Russo, Chris Steele and John Rutherford. For me, the most important image is the first one. I’d heard that Chuck Holmes — the legendary Falcon founder and an industry pioneer — demanded clean feet in all scenes. That’s him below. Never mind; I was wrong. A commenter says that’s a Production Assistant, not Chuck Holmes.

  1. I can’t tell you how surprised I was to see this posting. Ken Probst is a friend and great photographer who I allowed to follow me in production for a few years while I was at Falcon and then Hot House. Six of these photos are from Falcon shoots and 7 from Hot House. Ken presented me a print of the Twins as a gift, one of his most famous pieces, and it hangs above my desk at home today. I love it!

You are correct about there being some very notable porn industry personalities in this selection of photos but let me help you out with a few more. The very first photo (also repeated larger as the 7th) captures Mark Fredricks from a Hot House shoot with video camera in hand. He is one of the most notorious figures ever to work in gay porn because of his connection to and his future lawsuit against Michael Jackson. The photographer leaning in for the shot is Brian Mills, now a very accomplished Titan Director. Brian repeats in the photograph where he is applying makeup to the seated models testicles.

The production assistant cleaning the bottom of the model’s feet and later spraying Chance Caldwell’s back is Michael Prince. The fellow lighting the candles (on the set of Falcon’s Conflict/ Redemption) is a rare photo of the very private, award winning Falcon Director of Videography Todd Montgomery. That is Hot House model Beau Saxon carrying the huge black dildo on the set of Call To Arms. I have to mention Chris Green holding the fill light on Donnie Russo. I am not sure which one you think Chris Steele is because I don’t think he was around at the time.

Thanks for posting these – I enjoyed the walk down memory lane.

    1. Thanks Stephen for the clarification. Another friend of mine provided the link to the images. Great memories of some very interesting projects.

  2. Um, hate to tell you, but that is not Chuck Holmes wiping that model’s feet – that’s a production assistant.
