Forget Equus, for Male Nudity Try the NY Fringe Fest

These shows may not make it to Broadway, and they may not graduate
Off-Broadway either, but if you’re in town and looking for some fringe
culture, might we suggest the following more adult choices.

FringeNYC runs from August 8 to August 24 at venues throughout the five boroughs and New Jersey. See more info at the FringeNYC website.

The Naked Dead Elephant in the Middle of the Room

Written and Directed by Larson Rose

The playwright promises, nay insists, that there will be adult themes and male nudity. We’re not even sure what it’s about. We can’t wait. Aug 9 – 24.

Wish We Were Here
Written by Michael Philliis
Directed by Marc E. Shaw

It’s
a stoner comedy involving a hookah, a genie and a mostly naked man who
seems to be the victim of the genie’s S&M whims. Exactly what we
want to go to the Fringe fest for. Aug 10 – 23. Tickets here.

The Home for Wayward Girls and Fallen Women
Written by Cyndi Freeman and Joseph Naftali

If you like a little tits and ass, or if you have a straight friend in town, try this one. Presented by the Hotsy Totsy Burlesque.

III
Written and Directed by Joe Salvatore

A play about real life all-male three-way between photographer George Platt Lynes, writer Glenway Wescott and MOMA curator Monroe Wheeler. Might be a little stuffy, but might be kind of sexy too. Aug 13 – 23. Tickets here.

Nudists In Love: A
Musical
Music & Lyrics by Nirmal Chandraratna, Book by Shannon Thomason
Directed by Sara Thigpen

Again, if you want people to come to your show in the middle of August, show some skin. Lesson complete. Aug 8 – 23. Tickets here.
