‘NYTimes’ Profiles Local Tranny Politician

She’s also got my vote because a good friend of mine designed her website, because she is an effective advocate for gay bars and because last year she organized the Take Back The Polk march in a valiant fight against the sorority girls and Northface brahs who murderered San Francisco’s erstwhile gayborhood.

Here’s an excerpt from the Times article. You can also watch video of Anna Conda performing here.

A year ago, the idea of running a political campaign had not occurred to Mr. Hyde. But last fall, his midnight drag party, Charlie Horse, held for the last five years at the Cinch, a club on Polk Street, was forced to close because of residents’ noise complaints and a discovery that Cinch did not have the proper permit to put on an act like Mr. Hyde’s.

As a result, Mr. Hyde is advocating for a more vibrant South of Market and Tenderloin, alternative solutions for the homeless community and affordable housing as “a voice for change that’s not for sale.”

…Mr. Hyde is running for office because, he said, “A lot of people come to San Francisco because their families threw them out and the liberal sentiment here has returned them to community.” It is that “liberal sentiment” that he hopes to restore if he is elected.
