OnlyFans Founder & CEO Tim Stokely Steps Down

Tim Stokely, founder and CEO of OnlyFans, has stepped down from his position at the amateur content media company. In a statement from OnlyFans, the company announced that Ami Gan, who started working with OnlyFans last year as head of communications and marketing, will be taking over Stokely’s role as its chief executive officer.

Stokely officially announced his departure in an Instagram post made earlier today, but did not get into specific details about the reason for him leaving or why he decided to step down from the company he helped form into a billion-dollar empire.

“I have taken the decision to step down from my position as CEO of Fenix International to focus on my next challenge,” Stokely wrote. “In 2016, I launched the platform OnlyFans.com. Working from my brother’s kitchen table, it would have been impossible to dream of what we achieved. I’d like to thank all of my colleagues, but the most important thank you is to all of the content creators… you made OnlyFans what it is today.”

This of course is only one of the many major headlines that OnlyFans has made this year. Back in August, the company almost blew up the entire adult industry when it announced that it would stop allowing pornography on its site. After extreme backlash from fans and content creators, the company sited that the changes were “necessary to secure banking and payment services.”

“The change in policy, we had no choice — the short answer is banks,” Stokely said in an interview with the Financial Times back in August. “This decision was made to safeguard [creators’] funds and subscriptions from increasingly unfair actions by banks and media companies — we obviously do not want to lose our most loyal creators.”

A few days later on August 25, OnlyFans officially announced in a vague statement that they had “secured assurances necessary to support our diverse creator community” and successfully “suspended” the planned anti-porn policy change. While many at the time were happy that the company decided to go back on its proposed alterations to its guidelines, others were left disturbed that this was even something that could even possibly happen and others were put off by the company using the term “suspended” instead of “canceled.”

According to Bloomberg, Gan declined to comment on if the company would remain “committed to sexual content” or if “the brief policy changes over the summer affected business.” However, she did say that OnlyFans would be introducing new tools for creators and increasing its investment in OFTV – a free OnlyFans streaming app that launched earlier this year and allows zero nudity or any type of sexual content.

So what do you think? Are you a fan of OnlyFans? Do you think the company is going to try and ban nudity yet again? Or do you have faith that they’ll back sex workers and keep allowing X-rated content on its site? Sound off in the comments below with all your hot thoughts.

  1. Well, they kept denying it even though I sent them all the info they requested. I have no idea why they keep rejecting it.

  2. At first I thought ‘Whoever created this should be shot. Each performer with their own ridiculously high subscription prices.” Then later on, I tried to start my own free account… which OF up to this damn day still has to approve!!!!!!!! I used to have my own account on xhamster.com until they launched a stupid thing called a Creator account. Cannot post my cumvids there any more. Need to blur out every video within my cumvids I was jacking off to… but I’ve never saved my uploaded videos on my computer. I’ve tried to create a second account and now they are nagging that that is not allowed. Xhamster.com is driving me insane!! To get back on topic, I wish OF would verify my account so I can finally post there and get some dough for it.
