Sex Workers Ask Obama for ‘Relief’

Dear President Elect Obama,

Just a few notes from a professional inside the sex industry to guide you and your administration into what all hope will be a successful 4 years of prosperity of diversity and inclusion to obtain justice for all.

We at the Erotic Service Providers Union hope that you extend your community organizing values to actual sex industry workers like myself, to be included whenever discussing anything that has anything to do with us. We prefer face to face meetings as it¹s more effective in establishing everyone¹s humanity and will afford an opportunity to recover from the current policies of annihilation of the sex industry at any cost which has proven to be a mixed bag for politicians.  I’d suggest leaving behind the archaic way of meeting behind good-old-boy closed doors, where top-down organizing of the patronizing class has prevailed, especially financially, under the faith-based regime.  Their ‘rescuing’ rhetoric to mandate what form sex industry workers’ dignity will take is the exact same oppressive position African Americans suffered under the plantation owners.  Think about fiscal accountability and transparency when handing over our tax dollars to these self appointed rescuers.

FYI, our class of worker has been filing and paying taxes for decades.

We professionals pride ourselves on competent erotic services provided in the safest way possible way for everyone¹s benefit.  We¹d like to share our valuable experience in being on the front lines of safe sex acts with the new administration by asking for your cooperation in removing the ‘gag order¹ regarding HIV prevention funding where the Halliburtons of the rescue industry have dictated  policy and profited financially from opposing prostitution rights on behalf of the government.   Mounting this inclusive, mature position by your administration will facilitate handling those inevitable sex scandals whereupon past administrations have sacrificed the expendable crew members who¹ve been caught being human, while penalizing those of us who are out and proud professionals for using HIV prevention methods on our jobs. The new administration has to enact change by dispensing with these Jim Crow laws for hookers and instead enfranchise all sex industry workers as the contributing members of society that we already are.

In sexual solidarity
Maxine Doogan
