Ricky Sinz, Brent Corrigan and Logan McCree were the big winners tonight, leaving the Castro Theatre ceremony with multiple awards each. And to nobody’s surprise, epic snuff film To the Last Man took home the Best Picture.

This year’s nominees for the Grabby Awards–which round out the ever-glamorous gay porn awards season with a ceremony/party in Chicago, two months after the GayVN Awards–have been announced!

The 2009 GayVN nominations are out, kids!  As per uje, there are about nine thousand of them!  And did we mention this year’s porn oscars are going to be QUITE A SHOW?

Big news in the gay porn world, gentlemen and ladyboys: The Grabby Award powers that be have announced two of their three porn model co-hosts, and they want YOU, the loyal fans of porndom, to vote for the third.

You could say the first-half of this decade was a golden age of sorts for gay porn stars. Not only could they hawk their soiled skivvies for princely sums, but they could also get rich by charging people recurring monthly fees in return for access to their personal websites. Back then, joining usually gave you access to little more than a few sets of images, a message board, and their journal.

Forty-eight hours later we’re still unsure whether we should report some of this past weekend to the police, but one thing is for sure: the 2008 Grabbys were a rollicking good time without the pressure or the pomp of the GayVNs. Maybe it was the table service or maybe it was that it’s hard to get too worked up about not winning “Hottest Bottom.” Either way, if that’s an award show, we’ll have a double.

Our head already hurts, and don’t even ask about our dignity. In a weekend worthy of a Randy Shilts history, Chicago will host Bear Pride, the 30th Annual International Mr. Leather Competition and the 2008 Grabby Awards in the course of a few days. Assuming that we don’t end up a crime statistic or a cautionary tale, we’ll be bringing you daily coverage of the Windy City’s dirty, hairy underbelly. Below is our recommendations for a weekend that you won’t forget, no matter how hard you try.

Like a once-in-a-lifetime confluence of astronomical events, the International Mr. Leather Expo is happening in Chicago this weekend AT THE SAME TIME as the infamous Grabby Awards.  The Sword will be covering the weekend live-blog style, in association with Fleshbot.  After the jump, a refresher (in case you missed them the first time) on this year’s Grabby nominees.

Thanks to a few well-placed handjobs and a bottle of Kahlua, we’ve weaseled our way into Grabby headquarters and stolen the list of nominees that’s scheduled to be published tomorrow. We started to tally the studio with the most noms, the movie with the most noms and the studio with the most movies and, well, wait… what were we saying? Sorry, we totally fell asleep. It doesn’t really matter since there’s enough noms here for each studio to spin, Bush-style, an edge up on the competition. By noon tomorrow, everyone will be in the lead.
