GENRE Magazine to SF: You’re Chopped Liver
For the second year in a row, gay rag Genre has published their “Best Bars in America” article and left San Francisco off the list.* While we are humble enough to admit that our hometown may not have a host of trendy fag hotspots quite on par with New York or Los Angeles, we are neither blind nor retarded enough to believe that there aren’t a handful of venues in SF that beat out, say, Joe’s on Juniper in Atlanta or Bill’s (“The gay Cheers of Lauderdale”) in Fort Lauderdale. San Francisco has the highest percent gay population of any city in the country for fuck’s sake, so ignoring the city’s gay bars two years in a row would suggest that there’s an editor at Genre who doesn’t much care for the City by the Bay, or its nightlife, despite it being the spiritual center of the gay universe (we’re looking at you Neal Boulton).
Exciting Kocis Murder Gets Boringer With Civil Suit
Nothing assures weird attention to boring minutiae than a civil suit, and the recent announcement that Michael Kocis, father of twink magnet and dead pornographer Bryan Kocis, had filed one against Harlow Cuadra and Joseph Kerekes rang bells of breathless tedium through-out the ungentrified areas of the self-proclaimed Kocisphere.

Art Fags Gilbert & George Featured in Retrospective
They once performed a “living sculpture” in which they invited fellow British gay artist David Hockney over for dinner, along with several other friends, took photographs, printed limited editions of the menu and invitations and created other documentation like an index sheet of stains from each of the foods and beverages consumed that night. Gilbert & George, who have been making art together since the late 60s, are now being featured in a retrospective at San Francisco’s DeYoung museum which was organized by the Tate Modern in London.

Fifth time’s a charm! Although Link III was touted as the “Final Link,” and then a few years later Link IV appeared (“The Missing Link”), the Channel 1 merger with All Worlds allowed Chi Chi LaRue to milk the franchise one last time with “Link V: The Evolution,” an epic three disc raunch-o-rama that features a cast of over 30 men in various “kinky” scenarios including Steve Cruz as a dog boy on all fours pissing on a fire hydrant and a Cole Ryan getting a beer bottle enema. (Wouldn’t mama be proud!)
