Paris Fashion Week Roundup: Lady Bunny Lies, and McQueen Styles Models Like Leigh Bowery

The theme of Alexander McQueen’s runway show for Paris Fashion week was “recycling,” and in addition to a huge pile of trash on the stage he reused elements from previous collections to create new works. (Video below)

Being a gay site, we don’t usually cover ladies’ fashion. But we’ll make an exception for McQueen and all his fawning, queeny, fashion editor fans in the video below — and we’d like to point out the makeup reference to historical drag star Leigh Bowery (pictured below) who liked to paint on outsize lips like this. (Or are we thinking of this queen? Or Amanda Lepore?)

Alexander McQueen Fall 09 Paris Show
… In other drag-related Paris Fashion week news, Lady Bunny was asked who she was by a French TV crew at the Victor & Rolf show and she said “Michelle Obama.” According to Bunny herself, via email:

“Everyone howled, including Michelle’s personal stylist who TEXTED THE FIRST LADY AND THEY HAD A LAUGH OVER ME! RETARDED!”

Later, she partied with Pamela Anderson.

Anyway, aren’t fashion people retarded?  Watch below as a Bergdorf Goodman buyer at the McQueen show makes a passing reference to Little Edie Beale from Grey Gardens, and a Vogue editor editor suggests that this collection might summon the end of the world.
