Here’s The Paul Ryan Shirtless Photo

From six years ago. Is it everything you could have wanted, and more? Why is it surfacing now? The Romney/Ryan campaign wants attention–attention that isn’t about tax releases or Medicare–so I’m guessing they’re the ones who sent the photo to TMZ. His legs are too skinny, but the top half is fine.

  1. To Andrew: I understand that Rep. Ryan has not been the model of inclusiveness or political support that we would like, but what I was trying to do was be fair in commenting on the Representative because that is what we who support queer rights demand of our detractors and opponents (as well we should). I also raised the point to show that if Representative Ryan could be persuaded to change his mind on a piece of legislation that he previously rejected then it stands to reason that he could be persuaded to change his mind on other key concerns as well. Granted I am not going to vote for him in the hopes that he “evolves” anytime soon, but my hope is that in that one vote there is at least the potential for “evolution”.

I still prefer the effective, although admittedly tedious, process of changing social and political sentiment through appeals to reason and compassion, not by vilifying our opponents or by failing to acknowledge some noteworthy change(s) in their position. Rep. Ryan is by no means a champion of the ideas we both believe are important, but that is a reason not to vote for him, not a reason to be less than fair in commenting on him. You are absolutely correct, keeping a job (even in this economy) is not as important as being able to marry the person you love and start a family by comparison, but it is still an important advancement that I think is encouraging because it passed with bi-partisan support. Again, the Representative is no “friend” of the coummunity, but I just wanted to be fair. That is my opinion and I am always willing to acknowledge when I am wrong even in that.

  2. He is a good looking guy with a great body for whom I will not vote. With his social and political views, he could look like Dawson of Corbin Fisher Studio and I still wouldn’t vote for him. And ain’t nobody looks as good as DAWSON!!!

  3. The top half is NOT fine. He has a face like a ventriloquist’s dummy. Oh, and he just happens to be a lifelong fascist opposed to gay equality which will make him an ideal pin-up boy for the self-loathing Log Cabin crowd.

    1. I wouldn’t vote for Mr Ryan because of his very right wing views. However for you to call him a fascist is just plain b*ll s*it!

    1. He does not have a great track record when it comes to championing queer rights, but to be fair, what I was impressed to see was his vote in favor of ENDA in 2007 after saying that he was opposed to the bill when it was introduced in 2006. I would love for him to be more vocal in support of gay rights, but then again I waited for President Obama to “evolve” to his present position after years of pressure, maybe the same could happen for him too. Oh, and I have a feeling that he has that mid-western magic stick that would probably keep me leaning even more to the left.

      1. Are you kidding? He has a HORRIBLE track record! He supports a Constitutional amendment to ban same sex marriage; he opposes gay adoption; voted against the repeal of DADT & and voted against the hate crimes bill. Educate yourself! I wouldn’t care if he looked like Mick Lovell–he will never get my vote

        1. Actually, I am very well informed about Rep. Ryan and his voting record on the queer rights issues you have raised. I have been tracing Rep. Ryan’s career since the day that he ran for and won his seat in congress because I knew after the first time that I met him that he was going to be a rising star in his party. I am very aware of his track record on the matter, which is the reason why I started by saying that he does not have a great track record in supporting queer rights. He did actually vote for a valuable piece of legislation to the community and I made and make that statement in the interest of fairness. I did not say that fact alone or taken together with the facts you stated mean that he is deserving of my vote. I still think that he is nerdy cute though.

          1. Great. We’re allowed to keep our jobs as long as we don’t get any “uppity” ideas about raising kids, serving in the military, or having our relationships legally recognized. Gee, Thanks!! With “friends” like these…
