Poor People in Echo Park Given Free Porn c/o Cybersocket

The LA Times covered the story this weekend, as it combines the rich setting of a church and soup kitchen with the richly dramatic dilemna of having their parishioners and destitute, hungry meal-seekers being faced with, among other things, pictures of NakedSwordsman of the Year Steve Cruz.

We’re especially tickled by the quotes in the piece from neighbor Gloria Sohacki.

“I am not nuts, you can ask Hilda,” Sohacki said in her e-mail to me. “I secretly think someone is targeting me in the hopes I will answer the ads in the magazines — after all, I am a gorgeous-looking 62-year-old redhead — just kidding.”
“It says, ‘Virtual sex is now a reality,’ ” she told me.
“What does that mean?” I asked.
“I have no idea,” Sohacki said, flipping through the magazine. “Looks to me like they’ve got more plugs than sockets in here.”

You may recall that The Sword was a recent Cybersocket Award winner for Best Erotic E-Zine, so, uh, we hope those magazines are getting into good hands.
