The Miss America pageant stands for the empowerment of women, traditional values and wholesome entertainment, but RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned that one of the main sponsors for the California preliminaries moonlights as a porn star and runs gay porn websites.
And? Any fool who still believes that a beauty pageant stands for “empowerment of women” is probably going to be the same kind of fool who has a problem with gay porn, so Radar (a trashy online tabloid that makes National Enquirer look like Time) is barking up a pretty conservative, narrow-minded tree. Does anyone even give a shit?
ADDED: It just occurred to me, aren’t the only people who watch beauty pageants gay men? As if their beloved and obscene spectacle of hair and nails and tits and world peace-seeking queens is somehow tainted because there’s a gay porn star (by the way, I love that Radar identifies Jake Cruise primarily as a porn star) involved behind the scenes? Please.
Also, it’s not as if Jake Cruise the porn star was sponsoring the Miss America pageant (haha, imagine that), and furthermore, Jake and his boyfriend are only tangentially involved via a preliminary pageant:
[Jake Cruise] and his partner of 21 years are both highly involved in the Southern California Scholarship Association — a nonprofit that produces the Miss Hollywood pageant, which is an official preliminary to Miss California and Miss America. But RadarOnline.com has discovered [Jake Cruise] is a gay porn star and producer that owns three hardcore adult websites.
What’s Radar’s goal here? If it were only to tarnish the stupid, sexist Miss America pageant, I’d be OK with that. But, they’re also implying that a private citizen shouldn’t be able to throw his money behind whatever stupid, sexist cause he wants. Ridiculous! If this were a pageant for little girls, I’d understand. But these are grown women. Grown women making their own stupid, sexist choices.
In 2011 [Cruise] was named as the first of the organization’s major scholarship donors, and his partner sits on the board and is the Executive Director. [They] also own EKRA Group Inc. and a web design company called Dancing Moose Interactive that is responsible for designing the Miss California website. As if the pageants aren’t direct conflict enough with [Cruise’s] career in porn, he also launched a multi-faith website in 2000 devoted to “prayer launches” called PrayersOnTheWeb.com, which no longer exists.
I’d love for Radar to explain how the pageants are in “direct conflict” with what Jake Cruise does on his own time. Radar can’t explain it, of course, so they don’t. Parading around in a bikini and using sex appeal to win some cash and a gross crown is merely the implied, heterosexual version of what Jake Cruise does explicitly on his websites, so if it’s moral outrage that Radar (which has been peddling insane Mel Gibson voicemails and “Octomom” bullshit for years) is trying to incite, uhh, try again.
Also, that prayer website isn’t a “direct conflict” either! Isn’t that what all models do before they film a sex scene with Jake Cruise? Pray?
