Randy Blue’s Chris Rockway: “I May Never Walk Again”

Chris Rockway has been making gay porn with Randy Blue exclusively since 2006 (although he recently started working as straight porn star Cash Hunter), but if Chris Rockway doesn’t have spinal surgery, he may never make gay porn–or walk–again.

According to Rockway’s “Go Fund Me” page (which is sort of like a Kickstarter, but there’s no reserve that needs to be met in order for funds to be collected), he’s been uninsurable for years thanks to ongoing spinal issues. He needs $22,000:

So, I’ll make this simple. I need spinal surgery, the sooner the better. I have been uninsurable for sometime because of my spinal issues. I’ll save you the medical jargon. Instead, I’ll go straight to the point. I no longer can work, I have difficulty performing the simpliest of daily tasks, and am in a great deal of pain. Without this surgery it seems questionable that I will ever walk upright again, and pain killers will become like daily vitamins.

My quote not including medications, rehabilitation, and the unexpecteds is $22,150.00. I’m not sure how high it will really be in the end, but of course every bit helps. I will be keeping everyone updated on my progress as much as possible. Thank you for reading and take care of your backs.

I have no reason to doubt that Chris Rockway needs surgery, but I’d be more inclined to make a donation if I knew what the specific condition was. What’s it called? Is surgery the most effective way to treat it? Is it expected to cure the condition? Be specific! You’re asking strangers for $22,000, but you’re not going to explain exactly what’s going on?

Chris Rockway’s last Randy Blue scene came out last month:

  1. I have or had degenerative disc disorder and the docs wanted to operate on my vertebrae but I was told by my holistic people (acupuncturist, masseur, etc.) not to. They took care of it. I’m 90 percent back to normal.

  2. Hmmmmm, now this explains the text message I received from him two weeks ago. I thought it was spam or a phishing message.

Chris has not been escorting much near as I can tell. Certainly not with Man to Man agency, through which I’ve hired him a couple of times. Sweet guy with a cocky persona for gay porn.

He bragged to me that his income was into six figures and living in Omaha was desirable for the low cost of living. But he did say he wanted to move to LA for a while and then maybe Oregon.

Also said a dentist friend had done major work on his teeth for no cost. I got the impression the dentist did lots of work on the Randy Blue guys…..in exchange for what I don’t know.

So I’m curious as to how his circumstances have changed so much. Health issues can take a toll that’s for sure. But Chris seems to be in for it of late. He was caught in Egypt when the revolt broke out, sick parent, now this issue.

I certainly hope he recovers soon.

  3. This is off topic, but related by Randy Blue, does anyone know what is going on with Cayden Ross? He is for me (after Cristobol and Moyea), the bees knees, but he has been M.I.A. since April. He is not even in the live webcam section of the Randy Blue webpage now; what is the deal?

  4. Sissy Diddy La Cameo Cooksta

I saw him today … He is in so much pain fellas that he is talking in tongues … He is saying, apparently, that Lil Kim is his mommy and that his Aunt Bea tied him up and Barney Fife fucked him with a stick … I cried

  5. Now that he’s doing straight porn, why doesn’t he ask some of his straight fans to give him some money? I’m sure they would be more than happy to oblige. LOL!

  6. He can’t ask Randy Blue for the money cause he’s decided to jump ship and pair up with Chi Chi on her next project, The Grifters.

I mean, he does know it’s illegal should he not actually need spinal surgery, right?

  7. Either donate money or don’t. It’s not the end of the world either way.

Why do folks take the behavior of strangers so personally?

If people want to give him money, it’s their money to give.

I’m not saying they should or shouldn’t I’m just saying grown folks can do whatever they want with their money.
But more importantly y’all must be some privileged mofos if you actually think that the only people who go under with debt for medical expenses are people who don’t “handle their finances”. That is just factually incorrect.

You don’t know this man personally, neither do it.

Neither one of us has any IDEA where his money goes or what his expenses are because it’s none of our business.

Folks need to stop acting like you know performers personally just because they do porn and you get to see them doing it.

There are millions of people in the US who work in every industry who have overwhelming medical bills they can’t cover. If you don’t, you’re just lucky or you have REALLY GOOD medical insurance and you should shut the hell up about what other people can and can’t afford and just be happy you’re covered.

The fact that this dude does porn is immaterial to the truth of his need or lack thereof.
Maybe he’s lying like a rug or maybe he’s telling the truth and felt like he didn’t want to deal with the gossip mongering. I have no idea and neither do y’all

I do know that things are not always what they seem to be from a distance (for good or for ill)

And performers are no better or worse than any of us frequenting this blog. We are all just people trying to get by. Work is work. Do not think you are somehow a better human because you don’t do porn or escort.

You’re not. There are plenty of straight up whores working on Wall Street who don’t have the balls to see that’s what they are. Sex work is just work. The slut-shaming is antiquated and tired.

Give or don’t give but don’t be so fucking judgmental, moralistic and holier-than-thou about it.

Leave that to the Christian Fundamentalists who at least have religious dogma to stand on and do it much better.

    1. You need to get your head out of your ass. He is a public figure who posted a public message asking people for money. If you or Mr. Rockway didn’t want people to discuss it, then he shouldn’t have posted the message. You must also be really naive not to think that people will look at this with skepticism and doubt.

The only person I see taking this “personally” is you. There was a porn star on the straight side of the industry that was busted recently for faking terminal brain cancer and a number of other performers who have asked for money not to mention those stupid Amazon wish lists.

No one is saying people can’t spend their money however they want, but people can also question whether the motives of someone who is asking for a LARGE amount of money on a public platform and some of the supposed reasons are questionable and their recent activity doesn’t jive with what they claim is going on with them medically.

    2. You’re right. What he spends his money on isn’t our business really. But if he’s going to ask us to donate to his cause, then he should be prepare to answer questions we have regarding his situation. It’s not like he’s out in the street begging for loose change. He wants over 20,000 dollars, which I don’t think anyone on here has that type of money to throw around.

And just because we question his money management DOES NOT equal to us defending our current healthcare system. Yes it is flawed, and universal health care is a necessity here, but you have to first and foremost take responsibility for your own health first. He stays in great shape, so he should know how to do that.

    1. well that’s good that it was taken down. the question I have is “who believes that it won’t come back again except under a new name and maybe on a new site”?

  8. I meant to say that he deserves healthcare, and there are options that were and are available to him that could address his situation more than adequately.

  9. I can’t believe people are defending the US health care system. He needs a surgery he can’t afford, whether he is a poor financial planner or not shouldn’t really factor in to need. At issue is a basic human right to health care, and any society that could deny him this right, implying as people did above that he brought it on himself for any reason, needs to check themselves.
I’m wondering if he could go to Cuba or England and get the surgery there for free.

    1. I believe that he deserves healthcare, but that there are options that were and are available to him that could address his situation more than adequately. There is no need to spend money going to Cuba (a place where because of his gay porn and escorting activities he would more likely than not be jailed and tortured before he was treated) or England when he can avail himself of a number of viable options here at home. I have outlined some options that he could have and still can take advantage of if he needs the help as he says. Again, this is not about the healthcare industry, this is about other issues as addressed above.

  10. This situation is not about the US Healthcare, system it is about poor planning and wasted resources on Chris’ part. As several people have pointed out, he made more money over the past six years than most people in this nation have made in more than ten. He has no children, no wife, lived in an apartment in Omaha for several years, and had enough money to support his ailing mother (a plus IMHO). Being a resident of the state of Nebraska (or California) there were several things that he could have done, and still can do that would help his situation. He could have applied for health insurance through his personal training venture, brought on his girlfriend (who acted as his manager for a time) as an “employee” (for insurance purposes only) and qualified under California or Nebraska as a “small group”. Insurance companies in those states regularly sell to “small groups” (2 to 50) where the members have preexisting conditions (though the benefits do not kick in for about six months in California). Considering his condition, he could have applied to be a part of a “high risk pool” in either Nebraska or California where he cannot be turned down for insurance because there are insurance companies that sell to this group routinely. Though this is offered rather tongue and cheek it is still a viable option, move to either Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, or Vermont. In those states all insurance companies must sell to him. Not only do insurance companies have to sell him a policy, in those states there are limits on how much they can charge him. Last, but certainly not least, there are two insurance companies in Nebraska that sell insurance to individuals with preexisting conditions and both offer catastrophic insurance options. Yes, the deductibles are higher per year than he would pay if he did not have a preexisting condition, but it would be astronomically less than what he is requesting now for the surgery. All of these options were available to him and he had enough money that he could pay for them. If my tax dollars must go to pay for someones healthcare I want it to go to someone who is truly in need, not someone who was able bodied but failed to exercise the fiscal maturity that he should have. I certainly pray all the best for him, and if this is about his mother to her by extension, but there were a number of viable options available to him that he should have researched and considered and of which he can still take advantage. I have decided not to donate to his cause until I feel secure that this is not a scheme.

      1. I am sorry about that, every time that I tried that I encountered some sort of glitch. I have done so in the past, and will return to doing so in the future. Thank you for the feedback though, helpful criticism is always welcomed.

  11. …it’s not the healthcare system you guys should be bitching about…
Be a little more wary on what he wants the money for when he should have been able to afford it as I said previously.
Question the reason not bitching about a system.

  12. Another indictment of the American health care system. If he lived in any other Western country, he wouldn’t have to beg for health care.

  13. It is a goddamn shame when anyone has to shill on the net for cash for medical expenses. The US healthcare system stays disgusting.

  14. I’d be happier to donate to someone who wasn’t called “Cash Hunter”. Maybe some people do appreciate being spared the medical jargon but he should at least put it as footnotes or something and people could look on wikipedia if they didn’t understand.

  15. …I also just received an email that Chris Rockway is a Nigerian prince with $ 50 million in offshore accounts that he needs my help in retrieving ..

  16. Couldn’t he have the surgery and then declare bankruptcy if he’s that strapped for cash? Medical bills can be discharged through bankruptcy.

  17. Ok, I’m a little confused. He has had spinal issues for years, yet if you watch his Randy Blue work, he’s thrown some pretty athletic fucks at men. How does someone with a debilitating spinal issue do that? Does he have Degenerative Disc Disease (rhetorical question) or a disorder along those lines? If he is only asking for 22 and change for the surgery, does that mean he’s going to Brazil or Thailand for the surgery (you can get spinal surgery in those countries by competent surgeons for that sort of ballpark figure, and many hospitals in those countries actually seek out “medical tourists”). Have any of his straight scenes been filmed? If he’s having spinal issues, then you can tell based on his performance. Some things here just do not make sense, and the variables in the equation are not adding up correctly.

    1. But why does it say “I no longer can work, I have difficulty performing the simpliest of daily tasks, and am in a great deal of pain.” Its stating that Chris needs the surgery.

      Simplest, is spelled s-i-m-p-l-e-s-t.

  18. I think $22k is extremely low for any type of surgery, especially spinal. And I agree so many models don’t even think about the future, and they don’t save a damn thing. It’s a bit delusional to think that their porn career will always be there for them, but everyone has a shelf life.

  19. The ACA does indeed prohibit discrimination for preexisting conditions and a ban on annual caps for coverage (I will not discuss the fiscal wisdom of either provision during this conversation), but the question is what would be his premium and deductible, because he is still responsible for both? I believe that we have learned over the years that many of the claims being made by adult film actors of relative wealth have been grossly exaggerated. I am sure that over the course of six years Mr. Rockway may have, and I stress may have, indeed made two or three hundred thousand dollars but that is spread out over six years and when you consider that that amounts to about fifty thousand dollars a year, in this economy (including cost of living in California) that is not much money at all. I can clearly see a situation in which he would need the amount requested. The total cost to correct his condition might be significantly higher, but he might have saved or worked for all but that amount. I understand that individuals are leery of giving because they are concerned that this might indeed be a scheme, but consider that it is equally likely that it is not and that you have an opportunity to help a person in dire need. I would be more comfortable knowing more, but I will give.

    1. He moved to California only a few months ago. He had been living in Omaha. Unless for some catastrophic reason he lost all of his $$ in the few months he lived in California, the cost of living wouldn’t be an issue. His modeling page at OC Models still list him as active.

Here is his twitter page now.

Here is a cached version of his twitter page.

      http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:3Y0N9V8APDIJ:twitter.com/CashHunterxxx+cash+hunter+twitter&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a

Notice he deleted almost every tweet from June on his current twitter page. Anyone care to screen shot the cached page? There is nothing there to indicate that he was needing life changing surgery. Again, why would someone who was needing a costly medical procedure and had no health insurance move cross country to one of the most expensive areas to live in the United States, not to mention the fact that moving in itself is very costly.

      1. I was not aware that his move to California was a relatively recent move. I was under the impression that he left Omaha some time ago. That does add another wrinkle to the situation, and does give me cause for pause. Thank you for this information, I will take it into serious consideration before making the decision to give.

  20. Pre-existing injuries are NOT an issue thanks to “Obamacare”. Hasn’t he made and saved the money from porn? He has done dozens of scenes. This request sounds very suspect.

  21. 6 years of gay porn, escorting and appearance fees should be able to cover $22K. Otherwise, I don’t really see the point in doing 6 years of gay porn, escorting and appearances.

  22. thanks for covering this Zach. I had seen this and was going to contribute but now I know some of the backstory and may rethink it all.

  23. Not to be rude, but what has he been spending his money on?

He didn’t save any money or a nice nest egg?

If he had it for years why didn’t he save up?

    Seems fishy.

  24. ?? I’m totally and utterly confused. I thought he was doing fine, and moved to California…and now this?? I’m hoping this isn’t crazy talk.

Dude, do a few bottoming scenes and then you’d make bank for the $22,000. Didn’t you make around a couple hundred grand–which is why you work in gay porn?

  25. Why he couldn’t have asked Randy Blue for help? He has made them a lot of money. Also I why someone who is desperate for $22.5K would make a recent move from to LA from Omaha where the cost of living is significantly lower then what Southern California is. Also according to his Cash Hunter twitter account he shot a scene on the 14th of June and according to the straight modeling agency that represents him he is available for work “NOW”. It makes you wonder where his money went.

    http://www.ocmodeling.com/main.php?category=male

It’s not exactly a secret that he was hooking through Man 2 Man escorts (the same agency that pimped out Jeremy Walker, Jeremy Bilding, and Leo Giamani) and is listed as available through David Forest. If he can’t work, why is he continuing to do escort work. Yeah it’s cynical, but it reeks of what Leo Giamani tried to pull a few years ago on Queer Click when he said he was broke and asking people to help him out and claimed that Randy Blue and Falcon weren’t giving him work. When he was working at Man 2 Manm Leo was being sent out constantly.

For orthopedic surgery, $22.5k is pretty inexpensive. My dad’s hip replacement in LA would have been over $75K if he didn’t have health insurance.

    1. If he’s still available for modelling and escorting, it’s strange he can go to the gym enough to maintain that physique but still say:

“I no longer can work, I have difficulty performing the simplest of daily tasks, and am in a great deal of pain.”

  26. You make a great suggestion, Zach. The more explicit he is–spinal descriptively, not sexually–the more generous people are likely to be. None of us has any reason to doubt him, and he’s always seemed personable and genuine, but begging–and as good-natured as it may be, that’s what it is–always benefits from clarity.

  27. …. whatever the situation is, I hope it’s correctable. Tragic that he doesn’t have enough family and friends to help him out and he has to seek ‘the kindness of strangers’. $ 22,000 is a great deal of money. Hopefully he can get the help he needs and (to Zach’s point) the operation and treatment he’s seeking will improve it for him permanently.

  28. Id feel the same way. But didn’t he start doing straight porn as Cash Hunter.

I’ve had four spinal surgeries under 22 years old and they are no fun and not cheap. the total of mine were about $500,000. Almost sonds like he could be getting a pain management procedure. I’d be more inclined to donate, if I knew the condition and surgery.

  29. Also, thanks to Obamacare, whatever preexisting condition he has should soon not be an impediment to him getting insurance.
