Sexually charged, visually enticing, infused with nods to pop-art and current geo-political turmoil, “Raspberry Reich GR”, the latest release from NakedSword Film Works (NSFW), is as enigmatic as it is provocative.
This witty Greek homage to the legendary Bruce LaBruce’s 2004 film “The Raspberry Reich” offers a fresh, sexually charged view of the gay community’s relationship to politics and social media.
Some of the faces we might not recognize belong to Greek leaders who steered the country into financial ruin. This fosters an at times fanatical home-grown nationalism. This is in stark contrast to the “homo-idyllic” Instagram photos of circuit parties in Mykonos most American think of. For the locals, being gay in Greece can mean being either being treated like a terrorist … or needing to act like one.
