Law enforcement from the Czech Republic has been trying to get their hands on gay-for-pay porn star Robert Van Damme for over two years now, and thanks to some help from the U.S. Marshals, they’ve finally got their man. [UPDATE: Details on Van Damme’s crimes in the Czech Republic below.]
I have sad news for all RVD fans Robert will be taking a break from his career to go back to Czech Republic and take care of some legal issues. Robert has been convicted of a crime in Czech in absentia. A Czech Judge issued international warrant and Robert has been arrested by US Marshals in Atlanta Airport on July 25, 2012. Czech law is written from 1961 which was during communist regime, the law is written that Czech judicial system can convict a person In absentia, meaning they can convict a person without that person being present to defend themselves which is in violation of natural Justice.
Without speculating (there have been plenty of rumors over the years, but ICE never released the Czech records), the fact that Van Damme was hunted down at an Atlanta airport and is now being extradited with the help of U.S. Marshals should give you an idea of how serious the crime is that he’s been convicted of.
Meanwhile, Van Damme’s new American wife (not the first one who had him arrested for beating her two years ago and then started the rumors about his legal troubles in the Czech Republic) sent a message to Queer Me Now:
At this point in time Robert asked to be extradited from Georgia to California where he lives and he will most likely sign the extradition paperwork back to Czech where he will reopen the case and be present to defend the charges against him. […] At this point in time what we will miss for sure is seeing Robert perform in front of the camera. But as we all know him; nutrition freak, workout guru and trainer so we all know he will use this time behind bars to get in better shape than ever before. So when he comes back it will be worth the wait!
Something to look forward to! (Assuming Van Damme ever gets out of his Czech prison cell.)
Thanks to commenter “J2,” who is better at finding Czech Republic news websites than I am, we now have details on what Van Damme was convicted of. In 1999 and 2000, Van Damme (legal name Robert Kovarik) was a member of a nine-man gang of thugs that committed multiple armed robberies. One of Van Damme/Kovarik’s robbery victims was shot in the head and chest.
Published on “New Express” in 2004 (before Kovarik’s conviction), and translated from Czech into English:
Damage for nearly eight and a half million crowns to cause eight men who were at the Regional Court in Brno interview from robbery and theft. They face for up to twelve years in prison. The ninth defendant, Robert Kovarik disability pension (35), is on the run. “[He] is the organizer of the crime. We have evidence that lurks in America, “said prosecutor Jaroslav Kubes.
The defendants deny guilt. Some even refused to testify, told police the next few sentences in his defense. They are judged on freedom. The list of works, from which the plaintiff nine men accused in the indictment took several pages. The first act was to be robbery, which took place 9th January 1999 in Prostejov. Kovarik, salesman Peter Vlcek (36), entrepreneur Roman Zemanek (37), unemployed Rudolf Ulrych (41), entrepreneur Gino Patrik Galeta (30) and driver Mark Lipold (27) BMW dammed dark path of the truck. Driver (61) is forced to stop the arms, dragged him out, put it in the trunk of a truck with HIS jeans for 1.7 million stolen. That’s what the prosecutor contends.
Among the defendants is a police officer Jaroslav Šincl (37). That according to the applicant gave a tip in January 2000 Peter vendors Wolfy (36) that the three men robbed a house, car, shop and workshop. They stole a BMW and other things. The loot was worth over a million crowns. Šincl is accused of theft, criminal damage and abuse of public office. There is for him to ten years in prison.
Four men – Kovarik, Vlcek, David Zemanek unemployed and Zach (36) – the third had March 2000 ambush mail car in Olomouc. “The driver Jiri Svoboda (58) shot in the head and chest. Caused him grievous bodily harm. Seized cars with € 2.3 million,” said plaintiff robbery. After this act of transporting a policeman wounded in the night Šincl Vlcek in a service car, even if just at that time was investigating the assault according to the applicant the mail car. According to him the same amount stolen Kovarik, Vlcek, Zemanek, Zach and Charles Menyház (42) in April 2000 when attacked by the Kremlin Prostějov Paul (44). “He pushed the car into a ditch, and forced him to leave, saying, Gimme the money! ‘Forced him to lie on her stomach. The car stole briefcase with an amount of 2.3 million crowns. It is the money they intended to steal, “said the prosecutor. Robert and Peter were also two to commit theft. The stores in Olomouc Plumlov and alienated in April and July 2000 542 000 for tools and two bikes in a million.
The indictment is based on the secret testimony of several witnesses. There are also recordings of wiretapping telephone conversations between the defendants. Wiretapping phones were heard in the courtroom, where they showed how to plotting to attack Paul Kremlin, which transported money (2.3 million dollars) to buy a family house.
As of this update, Immigration and Customs Enforcement locator says that Kovarik is not in their custody, which means he’s either still with U.S. Marshals or he’s already been extradited. And as of this morning, someone (presumably Kovarik’s current American wife and business partner—without whom he would never have been allowed to stay in this country the past two years) was still operating Robert Van Damme’s Twitter account.
Good morning! And: good riddance.
