Responding to coverage of Robert Van Damme’s arrest, his wife of four years, Mimi Letuska, sent a statement to Vincent Lambert that begins, "At first I didn’t want to respond to the press I’ve seen, but the more I see the more angry I get that Robert is portraying himself as the victim here."
Mimi says that the drama came to a head in late March after the porn star allegedly smashed his two step-daughters’ cell phones against the wall in the midst of a temper tantrum. One of the daughters called the police, and now Robert is in jail awaiting his court appearance on June 7.
(Robert’s spending his free time there lifting weights, according to his lawyers.)
In her statement, Mimi says that she is the victim of violence and a fraudulent marriage:
He is a 6-foot-1 bodybuilder. I tried to get him to leave the room and that’s when he hit me, full-on across the mouth. I fell to the floor from the force of the blow and blood was pouring out of my mouth. The police have pictures of that, too. As a result of that night, I have a broken tooth and numbness in my upper lip.
…I loved Robert and did everything for him. But I have learned that Robert only used me. He used my status as an American citizen to start a business and have a life that he wasn’t entitled to.
As the co-owners of RVD Films, Robert and Mimi were business partners as well as husband and wife. But now the business is finished, Mimi says, and it’s all his fault:
But there is no RVD Films anymore. Obviously, RVD Films was Robert Van Damme. He was the personality, the celebrity. I only handled all administrative duties. Robert ruined his own business.
