If a bomb went off in the L.A. Convention Center last weekend the entire DRAG COMMUNITY would have been decimated! Over 13,000 people attended DragCon, the world’s first ever drag convention and it was spectacular.
Judging from the wide variety of attendees, vendors and participants, drag has arrived and been embraced by the main stream. I would estimate that 70% of the fans were female, and many parents brought their children all of whom LOVE Rupaul’s Drag Race and the queens. The mood was festive and excited as sounds of spontaneous cheers applause filled the convention hall as fans spotted one of their favorite queens. Hundreds of people lined up to hear panels on everything from how to become a YouTube star to being a gay daddy.
The Sisters panel on drag-activisim and spirituality was a huge success. When we first got to the room there was a line of 500 people waiting to see Alyssa Edwards and maybe five people in line for us. But once the doors opened our room was flood with people anxious to hear about the Sisters. While we talked we did two makeovers who were revealed to the cheering crowd.
DragCon Shocker: Today all anyone is talking about is Sharon Needles spitting beer on a fan waiting in line to meet her…
Now Sharon has only EVER been very sweet to me and generous to the Sisters. I adore her but I can’t decide if she was just being awful or if this was a calculated move to steal headlines… what do you think?
Below, a few photos.

omg looks like an awesome weekend Roma! yay! thanks for sharing such great photos…woohoo! Love my queens!!!
