  1. As a native pittsburgher, i think the bigger issue is how growing up gay in pittsburgh was really hard in the 70s and 80s, period. This was a blue collar, steelmill-loving town at one point. I would never have dreamed of sharing with my millhunk father (or brothers) my concerns about my sexuality. Gay meant “happy” and no more. P-G didnt need to go out in the rural areas to find this story.
