Straight Porn Industry Faces HIV Quarantine for the First Time in 5 Years

In the wake of the performer’s positive HIV test result, the organization that catalogues STDs among straight performers — Adult Industry Medical Healthcare (AIM) — is trying to keep its cool. “There were exceptionally few partners,” the organization stated. “This is not a major event.” Today, a California Health organization — Cal/OSHA — announced that they will launch an investigation, but AIM has thus far refused to name the performer or the studio she worked for.

The last time HIV showed up to the straight porn industry party was in 2004, when 50 performers were temporarily quarantined and business shut down for a month. There’s no counterpart to this sort of industry-wide testing in the gay porn world — once they test positive for HIV, straight performers are black-listed, but the big studio gay porn industry prefers to use condoms rather than divide its ranks by HIV status.
