The Sword Polls The Gay Porn Industry: Obama, Romney, Or Someone Else?

Last week, I asked some of the gay porn industry’s most influential stars and producers a simple question: Who are you voting for in the presidential election on November 6th?

While the overwhelmingly pro-Obama responses weren’t surprising, some of the reasons why they’re voting for him were.

Over the next few days I’ll be sharing all the responses, and believe it or not, there are a few anti-Obama voters in the mix. Today, let’s check in with a gay porn veteran, three newcomers, and an innovative producer.

I’m voting for Obama. The other major candidate is, in short, reversing civil rights and attempting to impose his individual religious views on others. Regardless of other issues, government has no business in my personal life and the only sensible option is to vote for the most qualified contender against Romney, which is Obama.

Performer Trevor Knight
I plan on voting for the reelection of President Obama. I believe that the President was given the reigns to a country in turmoil, but persevered with two wars to contend with and an economy that was in the realm of a Great Depression. I feel that President Obama has done more for the gay community than any former president by publicly supporting gay marriage and ending DADT, and I feel that he has accomplished much of what he said he would with the death of Osama Bin Laden, an improved relationship with Russia, and reformed health care legislation. I cannot distinguish exactly what Mitt Romney’s stance on anything truly is, as I feel he has a history of flipping his stance on important issues such as immigration, the Bush tax cuts, gun laws, global warming, abortion, and DADT at his convenience. I want a president who stands ardently behind his beliefs.

Performer JP Richards
I’m voting for Barack Obama because I feel he has this country’s best interests at heart. He is fighting for the majority of Americans instead of a privileged few by repealing “don’t ask, don’t tell,” passing the equal pay act, working for the middle class, reforming health care, and being pro-gay marriage. This is the president we need, not one who lets money and his religion dictate his decisions.

Producer & Director Dominic Ford
I am voting for Obama. Romney and Ryan have vowed to take a hard stance on pornography, gay rights, and women’s rights. There is no way I would vote for someone who would move the course of our culture backward in time. Romney lives in the 1950’s, which was a great time if you were a rich, straight, white man. He wants us to return to that time, and oppress everyone who isn’t a rich, white, straight man. Obama is pro-gay rights, pro-women’s rights, and has not gone after the adult industry in his time in office. Romney has no experience in foreign policy, has no concrete ideas about fixing the economy, and is clearly part of the 1% that doesn’t understand the 99%. There are absolutely no “pros” to him being president. This country will be better off when he is no longer in the news.

I used to never follow politics, but this year I’m dragging my ass to vote for Obama. He’s the first president to personally state his approval for GAY marriage. We can not afford an anti-gay president as well ANOTHER Republican to lead our country. The end.

  1. OK I think I’m remembering wrong. I don’t think I saw somewhere that Rod Daily voted for McCain 4 years ago, but that I was confusing it with his endorsement of Donald Trump. Here’s the story that Zach compiled using Rod Daily’s tweets:

Rod Daily Is A Total BILF

Also regardless of whether it’s his dry sense of humor or not, his views on gay marriage and gay rights are clearly narrow-minded or lack any real knowledge.

  2. I’m quite amused at the reasons stated for a vote against Romney. Shouldn’t you really be voting for someone because they are the obvious best choice?

Their is so much hype out there about Romney’s attempt to do this or that against humanity. Folks, learn your history and our model of governance. There is no way a super neo-con or socialist leaning communist would be able to single-handedly go against the fiber of who we are as a nation. You’re gullibly falling into the FUD fallacy.

We need a leader who can bring folks together and one who has a pragmatic ideology. Unfortunately none of these candidates fit the bill.

BTW JP, the equal pay act was passed & signed by Congress long before you were thought of… lol.

      1. Yes, JP was referring to the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, but URDUMB was referring to the 1963 equal pay act which prohibits wage disparity between men and women who work in the same place and perform jobs that require substantially the same “skill, effort, and responsibility.” The statute of limitations for filing suit is two or three years, depending on whether the discriminatory act is intentional. To add, women are also protected in the work place by Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act which covers discriminatory hiring, firing and promotions as well as pay. It requires filing a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission within 180 days after an intentional discriminatory act. The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act does not and will never provide any sort of substantive relief to claimants. Its only benefit is purely procedural in that it merely changes the calculation for the statute of limitations legislatively attached to a potential claim. Compared to other more serious, substantive, pieces of legislation fought for and won earnestly by women, this piece of legislation pales by comparison.

    1. Really? With the retirement or death of one or two liberal leaning supreme court justices under a Romney administration, women’s and gay rights could be set back for a generation

      1. I am not sure what your comment has to do with the Lilly Ledbetter Equal Pay act or my comment regarding it, but over the past twenty years the claims that the justices to the court could not be persuaded to vote against their alleged ideological beliefs (better stated as their judicial philosophy) does not always hold up to scrutiny. In fact, their “inconsistency” on critical issues of constitutionality should be seen as a benefit and opportunity.

Take for instance the fact that just this Summer Chief Justice John Roberts upheld the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act and Justice S. Sotomayer sided with the conservatives of the court in upholding Arizona’s controversial SB-1090. Further, we see that Justice Kennedy, nominated to the Court by Ronald Reagan, was the pivotal vote in both the cases of Romer v. Evans (which struck down Colorado’s blatantly heterosexist amendment to their constitutions that, if it passed, would have prohibited the Governor, the Legislature, or the Courts of Colorado to accord protected status to the queer community) and Lawrence v. Texas, which saw the end of anti-gay sodomy laws. It is also worth noting that he was joined in that decision by Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, who was also a Reagan appointee. Even Justice Scalia and Justice Clarence Thomas have sided with alleged liberal wing of the court, both on issues grave importance – cross burning and the 6th Amendment confrontation clause respectively. In short, which at this point is not possible, we cannot say with any certainty that the loss of two “liberal” justices to the court will necessarily equate to the loss of civil rights for anyone, including the queer community and women.

The Defense of Marriage Act is soon to be heard before the Court and this case I believe will test the courts ability to render a decision that is balanced and fair. Prediction: Justice Kennedy will side with the “liberal” wing of the court and DOMA will be declared unconstitutional.

    2. I would like to rebut your statement. I initially wrote several paragraphs explaining my answer and why I am voting for Obama. I was asked to produce an answer which is only a few sentences. I compressed and left out other details and justifications for my selection to the primary issue which is civil rights. While I have carefully looked at and considered Stein and Johnson, as candidates I feel that they have little chance of winning the election. Additionally I feel that they may not be able to perform as diplomatically in office as Obama. I narrowed my selection based on what is best for civil rights then narrowed further based on various stances and experiences that each candidate has. I left myself with Obama as the primary selection but to summarize that briefly I said what is posted in the article.

Do not think that simply because a bare bones summarized version of my politics is not an in depth analysis that it suggests that my politics as a whole is represented in that fashion. Quite the contrary, in fact there are many issues which the Johnson campaign more closely aligns with my own interests but I have to weigh those interests against the diplomatic experience of Obama and the fact that quite simply getting 5% of the vote which is what Johnson is hoping for simply is not enough to win.

Yes I am aware that with the electoral college the popular vote means little and that in the end it’s the way that your district votes that decides, but given what’s going on, I still feel that Obama is the best candidate who is running when you look at the whole picture.

      Good day, sir!

  3. I’m not american so I don’t vote. One thing I don’t understand: We here, outside USA, see american people so proud about being american but when elections come only a part of them go to vote. Some don’t do it and lost the opportunity to change, to improve the country that they seems to be so proud to be a part.
‘America’ is so influencial (Steel is…Till them? economocally and with its militar power, that can affect other parts of the world with his policies. That’s why foreigners should be allowed to vote too! If I could I’ll give my vote for Obama. For us that follow what happen in USA there’s no way ‘to vote’ in others. I still remember that fuckery with Florida’s votes and what happens after…

    1. I’m not American so I can’t vote either. Most people in Western Europe would vote for Obama if the polls are right. If only 35% of the electorate would cast a vote in the Netherlands there would be a big outcry. In the last general election a couple of months ago 73% of the Dutch electorate voted.

Which gay porn models, apart from Michael Lucas, are going to vote for the Republicans?

      1. Michael Lucas actually wrote an article on the Advocate something like one week ago, endorsing Obama (and saying in passing that he was never a Republican).
Anyway from abroad we always have a very biased view of elections in no matter which nation.

I like most answers up to now, I like to see hot hung men that think! :P

  4. Maybe a little off topic,
but does anyone else get a blip on their gaydar when d-bag Ryan is smirking at the camera?

  5. I like that Trevor Knight always comes across as well rounded and bright. That’s really refreshing, someone who isn’t single issue minded and is clued into the bigger picture of things. Fire Anderson Cooper. Put Trevor Knight on CNN. I’m not joking. I’d start watching CNN again.

    1. That’s a great idea! At least he knows there are countries in the world other than USA – that’s far more knowlege than most of US newscasters have. Just not put Anderson Cooper in porn. Yuck! His boyfriend is another story though – he could have a bright future ;)

      1. I wouldn’t want Anderson Cooper in porn either, I’d rather have him side by side next to me exchanging our vows! That man is husband material, and his boyfriend is hot too.

    2. What’s with all the bagging on Anderson Cooper? He’s pretty hot IMO. Especially for 46 years old.

And a he’s damn good newscaster besides.

  6. Glad to know that none of the people porn are supporting Romney!

There’s an anonymous g4p actor on Reddit who claims to be an exclusive for Next Door Male, and he’s pretty anti-Obama/pro-Romney. His username is ‘grncbr.’

The douchebag is the perfect example of why there’s been a backlash against g4p models…not only do they make it clear they’re only in it for the money, but then they go and actively support people who hate their fans (almost as much as they seem to).

    1. Well, I do remember reading that Rod Daily voted for John McCain in the last election, so I would not be surprised if he voted for Mitt Romney. He did state at one point that he believed marriage should be between a man and a woman.

      1. The fuck?! Lemme get this ‘straight’… a ‘straight’ married man who has sex with men for money doesn’t think his gay fans(?) should have that same right (to marry)?! NDS going belly up can’t happen soon enough…

        1. If you know Rod Daily, you know he has a very dry sense of humor. While I wouldn’t be surprised if he voted for McCain due to his military background, I am sure when he made that statement about marriage he was joking around. Contrary to popular belief, he isn’t gay-for-pay. He doesn’t even think that term exists.

          1. “I am sure when he made that statement about marriage he was joking around.”

Wow. Our rights are being legislated away and he thinks that’s a laughing matter… :|

“Contrary to popular belief, he isn’t gay-for-pay.”

I said he was a straight married man who fucks men for money. Did I somehow misrepresent the situation?

          2. Ok. Here’s my “joke”. I hope his “wife” gets in a car crash and he couldn’t even visit her in hospital just because he’s nobody for her, according to the government. Luckily for him, she is a woman, so it’s a fantasy that will never happen. For many gays it’s still a sad truth.

        2. People make jokes about rape, murder, and other horrific offenses so him making a joke a about marriage, in my personal opinion, is not something of the sort that is going to make me cringe. However, you might have a different perspective which I can easily respect. What one might find comedic, another might find distasteful.

From what he has told others, he isn’t married and that his engagement with his fiance fell through after the tragic accident of his brother. On top of that, while he does have sex with men for money, he also has sex with men for pleasure for free. If that still makes him “G4P” in your book…so be it.

          1. “People make jokes about rape, murder…”

And those people would be shitheads.

“I think marriage should be between one man and one woman.”
“I don’t think gay people should be allowed to marry.”

Sorry. Not seein’ the comedy in there. How exactly do you parse that so that it becomes funny?

“From what he has told others, he isn’t married…”

Uh, either he is or isn’t married. Why is all of this speculative? Would one of our resident sleuths kindly get this straightened out (no pun intended)?
