The Sword’s Gay Porn Q&A!

[Editor’s Note: Below is the first installment of The Sword’s new “Sexy Summer Q&A,” in which The Sword takes questions from porn stars, fans, industry professionals, and anyone else who emails us! Got a question that only a true gay porn insider could answer? Feel free to email us using the above “tips” link.]

Today’s question comes from a gay porn star who is worried that he might have HIV!

Q: Dear The Sword,

I’m a up and cumming gay pornstar who is sort of a vers bottom and into leather daddy types; and bears to. Some ppl try to label me a twink but I think I’ve got more a jock look going on. I also have a pretty big Twitter following and was nominated for a Grabby also. Anyways, 15 days ago I got my HIV test results back and they were negative, but for the past 14 days I’ve been having bareback sex with this older dude who hates condoms and who is HIV positive. Even though it was BB we were still pretty safe and he pulled out and came outside on my ass every time (only a little bit got inside i think lol), so am I still negative like the test from 15 days ago says? I have a porn shoot today with Men.com and don’t want to infect my scene partner :-(

Sincerely,
Possibly Poz

A: Dear Possibly Poz,

First of all, you should be commended for getting tested. Know your status! Second, whether or not you are negative or positive today is well beyond my scope of understanding. Who can say? Some things are just meant to remain a mystery. What’s important is that you were tested 15 days ago, so you will be fine. What happened between then and now is irrelevant and not for anyone to know or judge. And as far as you shooting porn today with Men.com, you’re in luck. Just today, Men.com parent company Manwin issued the following statement in regards to their HIV testing policies:

Manwin requires FDA approved tests, namely the HIV-1 Aptima RNA Qualitive Assay. The tests must originate from the clinics listed on the APHSS.org website as well as TTS. “In addition, adult entertainers performing in scenes commissioned for Manwin websites are obliged to provide health tests that are no older than 15 days,” the company said Tuesday in a statement.

Obviously, it’s safe to say that you’re in the clear! Even if your partner had been ejaculating directly into your anus for the past 14 days, everyone has long known that it is medically impossible to contract HIV during the 15 days immediately following an HIV test. And you’ve got the test results to prove it, from 15 days ago.

It’s nice to see a major studio like Men.com finally acknowledging the scientific facts! So, have a great, carefree shoot today, and save the worrying for another day, like tomorrow!

  1. smell my finger

I think you should interview Nasty Laura D about this. No one has a clearer picture around gay sex then a gay sex professional.

  2. This is just getting to be too damn much now. Seriously, you try this hard to be funny and it’s not. With Chelsea and now this, I think I’m going to look for my gay porn news elsewhere.

  3. Manwin tests the straight side but I heard nothing about testing the gay side.

And after reading the comments here from people that fell for this stunningly obvious “story” I wonder about the smarts of the typical Sword reader. Scary stuff.

And I agree too much of what posts here is just snarky.

  4. I enjoy sarcasm/snark with the best of them, but lately this blog just runs red with it, and it’s lost its edge. All good things in moderation.

  5. None of the other commentators so far seem to get that this is a joke based on your disapproval of men.com’s 15 day testing window.
Also a “Sexy Summer Q & A” should not start with a question about HIV.
Men.com uses condoms, why do they need recent test results anyway? Isn’t that the point of the condoms?

    1. I was someone who couldn’t tell (see above of course).

Since it’s a serious subject I can understand why not many people took it as a joke.

      Never would have guessed that.

      1. It is not a “joke”, it is a commentary to a statement of an important porn producer in form of a fictitious Q&A.

  6. So I’m a health professional and 15 days is not long enough to know whether or not someone is infected with HIV, especially if the test is for antibodies. It can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks to be comfortable in saying that someone is not infected and confirmed by another test at 3 months. This is because it takes time for the body to make these antibodies. Pulling out is not an effective way to avoid getting HIV. So it all depends on the type of test and partner’s viral load to know what the risk is (among other things). Moral of the story: get retested, and you’re not in the clear.

  7. Coming from a lab tech I can tell you it’s highly variable depending on the titers of the virus on your serum/plasma.

You should get kit tests done when you can I know at home tests are coming out soon.

Not sure if they have PCR for HIV/AIDS like they do for M.R.S.A and Clostridium difficile I should look into that out of curiousity.

Although RNA is above what I’ve seen, though I’m just in my clinicals right now and babbling.

  8. sorry Zach. Have to agree with Men.com on this one. blah blah blah tests are not full proof. why not try to be as safe as possible though? jesus

  9. Keep getting tested. If I follow this, you had 14 days of unprotected sex and got tested on day 15? Hate to say this, but depending on the type of test, it may be too early to see if you’ve seroconverted. The virus may not have had enough time to replicate, if it is present at all.

Obviously I hope it’s not, but I think it’s too soon to tell
