  1. Oh please, “endorphin rush” you can also get that from doing jumping jacks. It also requires alot of ” trust and care” to let somebody house sit for you. Some people take sex way too seriously. Couldnt agree more with Ed. You do this simply because you are fucked in the head to a certain degree.

  2. Ed,

Let me try to explain a bit so that you can get at least a little understanding. I should also mention that Tony and I have written at length on the topic in an Instigator column.

    But the main points are:
    1) While it looks clinical, this kind of play is some of the most intimate contact you can have with a person. It requires a lot of trust and care. You are penetrating someone’s body and you are dealing with the most primal and sacred of bodily fluids, blood. This intimate exchange of trust can be really beautiful and emotional, whether it’s between friends or lovers. It feels great for the bottom to give over trust and control, and it’s amazing for the top to be trusted with this control.

    2) This kind of play is distinct from many other forms of BDSM in that the pain experienced is very small compared with the endorphin rush. Add this intense euphoria to the feelings of trust/fear and intimacy/sexuality and you’ve got a pretty intense experience. When I’ve topped these scenes I actually get an endorphin rush that is similar to the one I get when I bottom it.

    3) Sometimes there are cultural fetishes attached to this sort of play. These range from medical fetishes to tribal fetishes to mad scientist fetishes (!?!?)

    4) This kind of play lays claim to the body in radical ways that can be pretty empowering in a world where often even our own bodies seem beyond our control.

    5) There is a rush from doing extreme things. The great thing about this kind of scene is that we know how to make it rather safe by leveraging knowledge, techniques and materials from clinical medicine.

I have a saying. “Every kind of sex that you aren’t into is pretty fucking funny… Except bloodsports.” Which is only funny if you’re into it.

Anyhow I hope that helps a little.

  3. I have absolutely no understanding of why a person would do this. What kind of pathology must a person have to find sexual satisfaction in this? I mean, along as everything’s consensual I guess I can’t complain. I just don’t understand – it makes no sense.
