It’s probably only a matter of minutes or days before the internet figures out exactly who eminently suckable and fuckable 19-year-old British diver Tom Daley was referring to when he issued his earth-shaking YouTube video for fans today telling them he’s bi and has a boyfriend. If only everyone on Reddit weren’t such a sad, shut-in, hetero dork.
It’s earth-shaking news for many, of course, kind of like if one of those One Direction homos finally decided to tell the truth, but the fact of a diver with a cute little face coming out as gay is hardly big news to some of us with better gaydar.
First, here’s the video, if you somehow managed not to see it already.
So, WHO’S THE LUCKY TOP? A tipster tipped off Queerty back in October that they’d spotted Tom grabbing coffee with L.A.-based gay screenwriter Dustin Lance Black. At 39 Lance is just over twice Tom’s age, but hey, maybe he just makes Tom feel safe. And from what we know, Tom would be exactly Lance’s type.
Because of the boldness of Tom’s announcement, we’d guess that the boyfriend is someone who’s already out of the closet, because the paparazzi are now going to be poised behind every bush and urinal to catch these two together. The main rumor would point to this guy:
That would be Brian Rabb, a very cute young American singer-songwriter who Tom posted a photo of on Instagram in August, along with a female friend, saying that the three were partying for the last time before Tom “went away” for a while.
The other rumors would point to a) Liam Payne from One Direction, because they’re pals and they hung out on Halloween and posted TwitPics together last year; and b) the longshot, Leandro Panna, the Argentinian model and ex-boyfriend of British model Katie Price, only because they’ve been photographed together in the last year and Panna appeared on the show Celebrity Splash! that Tom hosts in Britain.
Anyway speaking of gaydar, did anyone think that a straight man made this?
Also, here are a few favorite images of Tom. Next up to come out, we hope, Jack Laugher.
Also, inevitably, the ‘phobes have come out on Twitter, and everyone is aghast that people still use the word ‘faggot.’
