San Francisco Kisses Off Trannyshack Forever, Or Until Heklina Needs to Cover Rent Again

but as a weekly club that remained vaguely underground for its twelve years, Trannyshack is no more. The Sword has a swell gallery from the Kiss-Off event this weekend, which included performances by The Lady Bunny, Lady Miss Kier of Deee-Lite fame, Justin Bond of Kiki and Herb fame and Ana Matronic of Scissor Sisters fame (who got her start on the tiny Trannyshack stage back in the late 90s). Also, there were command performances of Miss Trannyshack pageants past, including faux queen Fauxnique’s winning number from 2003 which landed her on NPR’s All Things Considered (being the first known bio-female to win a drag title).  Other highlights included Hoku Mama Swamp’s Marie Antoinette-style costumed rendition of “Lay All Your Love On Me”; Juanita More! and Glamamore coming out in a pair of wildly elaborate paper dresses and unfolding two enormous origami cranes; Kiddie re-enacting “Don’t Explain,” in which she was physically branded on stage while lip-syncing to Billy Holiday and didn’t flinch a fucking inch (a number that for some bizarro reason did not win a couple years back); and Precious Moments getting fucked on stage by a series of dykes dressed as priests with strap-ons, and a couple guys dressed as Jesus and the Pope.
