Two of the hottest figure skaters at the 2022 Winter Olympics were involved in a scary accident during practice earlier today, getting into a heated exchange afterward (and causing all of us red-blooded gay men to freak out that they might be too injured to compete, depriving us of our needed eye candy). If you saw our Top 10 Hottest Figure Skaters at the 2022 Winter Olympics list, you know how fond I am of Italian pairs skater Matteo Guarisi. Canadian pairs skater Eric Radford (a bronze medalist in pairs and gold medalist in the team event four years ago at the Olymics) wasn’t on that list, but probably should have been (there were so many to choose from, and we’ll be looking at more skating studs as each individual discipline approaches). The two share the same practice sessions in Beijing: Matteo with partner Nicole Della Monica, Eric with relatively new partner Vanessa James (who used to skate with French hottie-turned-disgusting pervert Morgan Cipres, in a widely publicized controversy that had James seeking a new partner).

It was James who suffered the brunt of the impact. You can see the heated exchange between the two men at the end, with Matteo getting particularly animated—and rightly so. While this was an accident, the fault here is 100% on the Canadians. Della Monica/Guarisi were doing a run-through of their program (that was their music playing), and are to be yielded to by other pairs on the practice ice during the run-through. The Italians were also backing into a move (perhaps a throw) and gaining speed, and couldn’t see the other pair in time, with the Canadians skating forward (the Italians in full view in front of them!).
The Canadian pair is scheduled to skate tonight in the Team event final, and apparently Vanessa James and Eric Radford are feeling well enough to compete. The Italians didn’t make the team final but will compete in the pairs event next week. Phew…I need to see all of these studs as much as possible!
Based on Twitter reports by skating insiders, this is not the first scare that Eric and Matteo have been involved in during practice at these Games: “NBC learned from figure skating reporter Jackie Wong, who is on the ground at these Games, that the same athletes had a mishap during a practice session a couple days prior. The first time, though, it was Della Monica and Radford who took that one the hardest.” The two apparently also had a collision at the 2019 World Championships. How about these two take off their shirts, kiss and make up?
