Shows like this probably help more than harm the cause of Equality for LGBT folks. Most people watching these shows will see how sad it is for these young men and women Mormons to play make believe love and marriage. Would any parent watching these shows want their daughters to date and marry these gay boys?
I don’t think it matters what I or anyone else thinks about this. As long as the people involved are happy and they’re not hurting anyone then who cares?
While I agree that as long they are happy is a true statement, in the end they are hurting themselves and others around them. Before I came out, I thought about living the “straight” because of my faith and others expectations. But I knew I would never be happy and I would be bringing someone else into my lie and that just didn’t seem fair to me. It sucks being conflicted between what your faith has written and what you feel. In the end you have to do what makes YOU happy!
