The Truth About HIV and Being ‘Untransmittable’

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention declared “Undetectable Equals Untransmittable.”

But the fear and misinformation persists.

What this means: “Awareness of U=U is not only improving people’s social, sexual, and reproductive lives,’it’s changing what it means to live with HIV and will propel us toward ending the epidemic.'”

What this also means: “This isn’t advising people with HIV and their partners to abandon condoms or PrEP. Being undetectable is another powerful option in the HIV prevention toolbox to be used in combination with other prevention options or independently, depending on the circumstances.”
