A popular Puerto Vallarta beach club is being fined 22,179.60 pesos (around $1,000) after two guests were caught on camera having sex in its transparent swimming pool.
In the incriminating videos, two guests can be seen performing some questionable activity in a glass pool at the Mantamar Beach Club with their swimwear pulled down. While you can’t see much in the clip, it’s pretty easy to make out the image of one man being behind another man while giving him what appears to be a reach-around.
The transparent pool in question and well-known gay vacation destination overlooks a public beach. Beach-goers took notice of the public sex, started filming it, and shared the videos on social media. You can take a look at one of the videos below:

According to The Mazatlan Post, the controversy about the public sex act didn’t start up until videos made their way online. Director of Inspection and Regulations of the City Council José Juan Velázquez Hernández said that no one actually complained about the public sex and they only started an investigation after a colleague showed him images that were circulating social media.
“There was not really a direct complaint of the events before us,” he said. “It was a matter that was observed on social networks and they shared it with us, so we immediately sent to verify, to see if the situation was developing at that time.”

Héctor Ramírez Betancourt, the coordinator of the Vallarta LGBT Collective, said that modifications should be made to the regulations of common areas to prevent occurrences like this in the future.
“It is a private club but it is facing Los Muertos beach and this is public,” he said. “It is even where many families, children and they are passing by, so that is what we disapprove of, not so much the fact of sex because we are prudes.”
A representative for Mantamar Beach Club told GayCities that they are “sorry for what happened” and that they are taking “strict measures so that it never happens again.”
