Acclaimed performer Wesley Woods announced today through GayVN that he was retiring from the industry, with his final shoot scheduled for the end of October.
Woods—the current GayVN Performer of the Year and Best Actor (for Falcon’s Zack & Jack Make a Porno)—told GayVN that the assault he experienced last August in Los Angeles was the starting point for his decision (click here for The Sword’s report on the assault).
“It kind of made me sit with life and what I’m doing—and where I am and where I want to go—differently,” Woods told GayVN. “I just feel a calling to kind of push myself into a new direction. I don’t know which direction, but obviously one with lots of love and inclusiveness. I gotta do something, because I don’t ever want to be in the industry unhappy—and I can tell that if I don’t do this now, I could easily start to become unhappy.”
Woods has had a prolific four-year career. One of his very first films ever was Raging Stallion’s I’d Hit That in 2015 with Adam Ramzi, and he followed that up with hit after hit in a wide range of studios. He was a frequent performer with Falcon, including his award-winning role in Zack & Jack, his recent performance with Steven Lee in 7 Minutes in Heaven and his award-nominated scene with Tyler Roberts in Love and Lust in New Orleans.
He also performed frequently with Raging Stallion (see our recent 4-star review of his scene with Ricky Larkin and Marco Napoli in Bareback Crashpad); and NakedSword (where he appeared in the smash hit Scared Stiff and had a hot scene with Timothy Drake in Berkeley Sophomore Year).
He also performed for Hot House, Men.com, Cocky Boys, Next Door Studios, Bromo, Noir Male, Icon Male, Family Dick, Kink, Gentleman’s Closet and more.
During his career, he was also named Performer of the Year at the Grabbys, Best Webcam Performer at the Cybersocket Web Awards, Clip Artist of the Year at the XBIZ Awards, among other accolades.
Woods notes he will continue to have a voice in the industry to continue the conversation for gay sex workers (“I have a very strong desire to do something with my platform,” he told GayVN). He will be pursuing other performance opportunities as well, including appearing in the upcoming stage performance of Women Behind Bars starting January 24, 2020 at The Montalban in Los Angeles (alongside the likes of Traci Lords, Eureka O’Hara and Mink Stole).
He also signed on as a brand ambassador for FanCentro, and will continue to do comedy standup. He told GayVN that his last shoot was scheduled for this month with Icon Male.
You can read his full interview here at GayVN. We miss him already! Come back, Wesley!!!
Finally!!! He did a lot of bad press to gay folks, and gave arguments to the supporters of “being gay is a choice”.
I would like to believe that all this retirement is for good, but since he’s attention whore, he’ll probably come back sooner or later.
He’ll be back, no doubt. I bet within six months.
