In what is perhaps history’s most compelling Gay-Porn-Got-Me-Fired story in history — only Kurt Wild could possibly compete — Michael Verdugo lost his police gig in January 2009 for his one-time gay porn appearance as the thick-muscled sub in Rope Rituals. Even the fagfest at HDTV wanted nothing to do with him, and ‘Design Star’ uninvited the fourth-runner-up from a reunion show.

Now that he’s suing the Hollywood, FL police, Verdugo tells the Miami Herald, “I don’t regret it. It was a time in my life when I wanted to explore,” and Queerty actually asks an interesting question: Did Michael Verduga get fired for being gay or for appearing in porn?

The police disingenuously explained when they fired him that they weren’t mad Verdugo did porn — they were just mad he didn’t come clean during the hiring process. But Verdugo says that the police would have been “high-fiving him” had he made straight porn, and he’s suing for discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.
