The world of gay pop/dance tracks is not exactly big enough that a popular video like Cazwell’s “Ice Cream Truck” (2010) could be so easily forgotten in a few years that a drag queen should come along and launch her own summer ditty, “Ice Cream,” expecting no one to be confused.
Anyway, that’s what’s happened as Rupaul’s Drag Race runner-up Manila Luzon puts out her new single, and video, for a song called “Ice Cream,” which is directed by former frequent Andrew Christian collaborator Brad Hammer and features a bunch of L.A. underwear models and go-gos in their underwear. There aren’t any notable porn stars or even notable Andrew Christian models in the mix (where’s Murray Swanby!?), but there are some hot bodies. Also, somewhere among the “ice cream boys” is Andres Hunt, another former Andrew Christian employee who wrote this tirade about the company a couple years back after he got fired, which went minorly viral at the time.
So, is this hot?
And just to compare, here’s Cazwell’s decidedly more East Coast summer anthem, with a bunch of hot boys sweatin’ in a small apartment, and on the stoop.
I vote for Cazwell….
