Why Some Gay Men Queen Out With Friends and Then Turn Hyper ‘Masc’ When They Go Out

Vlogger Raymond Braun and his extremely sexy friend, former model and fellow vlogger Barrett Pall, would like to talk to all the (twentysomething) gay guys out there who let loose and queen out and “live their lives” when they’re among friends and getting ready to go out, but then do this whole Dr. Jeckyll thing the minute they get to the bar.

Pall seems especially incensed about this personality switch, the “putting on” of masculine behavior and speech, because it’s such bullshit and femme gay men should be allowed to be femme, and should own it, and quit with the play-acting. “I’ll be honest. Growing up I was bullied for my voice, and I used to like lie in bed and pray, ‘Let my voice just drop.’ But this is who I am…”

“It’s like going back into the closet,” says Braun. “Because think about it: If you come out as a gay man, but then whenever you’re interacting with other gay men, you’re contorting yourself to fit some straight-acting, jock, masculine ideal… in a way it’s like going back in the closet because you’re still hiding interests and aspects of yourself.”

And, if you want to get hard looking at some abs, please enjoy Barrett Pall’s Instagram, which is a whole lot more “butch,” as he puts it, than when you see and hear him talking on his vlog.

Transformation Tuesday! TAG a friend for some #realtalk. It's been a while since I did one of these, and I figured it was time. Remember that nothing in life worth having comes easy. Whether it's a stronger, healthier, leaner, bigger, or smaller body, it takes time to reach your goals. We must be patient in the process and know that we will get there if we keep at it. I have days where I love my body, but I also have days that have me thinking I could be doing more. Eating healthier, working out more, lifting more, but then I remember how grateful I am to be where I am currently at. Being gentle with yourself through the process is what it's all about, and what will keep you going to that final goal. Truthfully, there will never be a day when any of us say I am completely happy with what I look like, but if you can get 90% there than you are lucky. Good luck, and don't forget, it's mind, body and soul! #TT #Transformation #Fitness #Body #Arms #Abs #Chest #Shoulders #Grateful

  1. Eye Rolling from Seattle

How cute that early 20 somethings have just discovered how gay men have been acting for millenia. I can only imagine the first gay man who swished around the cave had to butch it up when he had to go out and kill a Mastadon to feed his village.
Gay men are the most judgmental category on the spectrum. The absolute pickiness of men on sites, no hair, femme, butch, straight acting, thin, bear, twink on and on and on……. While we castigate society for judging us, look inward first. I personally couldn’t give a flying Louis Vitton how people judge me, but please don’t act like it is some new shiny penny you picked up off the street.

I need a mentos and glass of water after this rant.

    1. A little part of homophobic is, to say that all the sexy guys are straight or bi, but not gay. “gay guys are not sexy”. And that is exactly what guys like you with these comments say. barret know it better, what he is. and he is gay. he say it on his youtube channel “https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCBcHuvKRpc” For guys like you, i have a name ” gayphobic ” ! Why guys like you don´t understand that gay guys are sexy, too ?

  2. This has nothing to do with “being yourself.” I definitely get swooshier and more excitable when I’m out with friends having cocktails. But different environments call for different levels of that behavior. Sometimes, it’s just difficult to relax or enjoy being around guys that are always chattering and speaking with their voices at 110%. I just was at the beach and had to move down away from two guys that sounded just like the two guys in this video. Sometimes it’s better to relax without all the high pitched squawking, bitchiness and hand waving. If I found that attractive constantly, I’d date women.

  3. hmm, Barrett dull? Not really and moreover as a top-only am VERY MUCH attracted to slightly fem gays, I am not disturbed by that at all as several others are, in fact they turn me on

  4. Who says their friends are not pretending when they’re acting like queenies?

Sorry, let’s not be hypocrits about this: the majority of gay men like masculine men. It’s part of the very definition of man.

  5. Taking selfies and posting them on instagram does not make you a model, nor does paying for shoots yourself.
Barrett is dull and boring. Listening to his voice automatically rolls eyes.

When God was handing out personalities he was looking at himself in the mirror thinking he was beautiful.
Granted he is good looking, but had nothing beyond that.
