Much like this anonymous escort discussed on Gawker last week, regarding the similarities between nursing and escorting, porn star Rob Yaeger excels both at taking care of needy clients and recognizing their needs as an escort, and taking care of his partner of 14 years, in the role of nurse.
In this touching documentary short, directed by Andy Pandy and produced by Jake Jaxson, Rob lets us into his New York home and discusses how he makes ends meet in part through escorting via the now defunct Rentboy an occupation that allows him both to have sex, which he no longer can have with his partner, who was injured in a freak accident, and to earn money to help support them both while he’s gone to school.
“I oftentimes have to act as a de facto therapist for clients,” Rob explains. “A lot of these guys are extremely rich. I’ve seen some beautiful-ass apartments in Manhattan… and what’s interesting is a lot of these guys who just want to sit and chat, they have these beautiful places, but they have a shortage of intimacy in their lives.”
The documentary comes just after the federal raid on Rentboy last week, in which, essentially, gay sex is on trial as much as prostitution, as the New York Times pointed out in a scathing editorial on Friday. It’s unclear whether it was shot for the sole purpose of responding to the raid, or if this footage was shot earlier, and just packaged as a response to the raid. In any case, it’s a powerful story.
Update: The video was pulled off of YouTube for reasons that are unclear, but here it is on HuffPo.
TRUE LOVE..I hope he has a brother for me.
What an absolutely wonderful human being is Rob. Tears blinded my eyes from reading and watching the video. His love and devotion to his disabled partner is touching and heart warming. I wish them well and that Rob will continue to be able to do his work and therapy and keep the clients that apparently need him.
He is a porn star ?? Are you kidding me??
Touching story though
