The awards season has officially kicked off! The XMA Awards nominees (previously the XBIZ Awards) have been announced. Who should win Gay Performer of the Year?
The ceremony will take place Jan. 18 at the Hollywood Palladium. The XMA Awards don’t offer much by way of gay representation. Just six categories in total (or more like five-and-a-half), which includes a few fan categories. Oddly missing this year is an award for Gay Director of the Year, which is a shame. They included one last year. (Also missing is a separate category for a non-narrative film; it’s bunched into one this year.) Peer voting begins Wednesday, Nov. 26 on the industry-exclusive social network XBIZ.net, with fan voting for the Fan Favorite categories opening the same day.
