Former Next Door Studios Exclusive Scott Finn, known as Rhett Douglas Messerly, died on November 23, 2025. He was only 27 years old.
Scott started working in adult entertainment at around 18 years old, working across Next Door Studios’ brands, including Active Duty and Next Door Taboo. However, he retired from studio work in 2024.
No cause of death has been disclosed, although an online obituary shared by his family fondly remembers him as a “goofball.” Others shared their heartfelt memories of Messerly, and one of his friends wrote: “I will miss you buddy[,] I wish you would have held on.” Toward the end of the obituary reads, “We find some comfort in knowing his pain here is over and he rests with his Heavenly Father again.”
His final tweet was in June 2025, where he wrote: “It’s been a hard life the last year and a half with the [divorce], but I’m finally single again[,] it’s been a while since I’ve [shown] my face, so here you are.”
However, Scott did respond to a few messages more recently than that, including when he answered a fan asking him about starting a cooking channel.
“I did start one, but my ex-wife had the email and took it away from me,” Scott wrote.
Rest in peace, Scott.
Whilst it is really sad when a young man dies, I so often see gays looking to apportion blame when its a gay/bisexual porn performer.
Mental Health is a buzz word and blaming his employers as though they are his responsibility doesn’t help. He worked for large studios and I am sure they carry out appropriate checks. We don’t know what happened and likely never will.
As an ex sex worker, you have to be a little “different” to do this anyway. Yes it fucks your brain at times, beyond the sex there is usually a real person living his life and dealing with who knows what. Young men are dying every day and every death is sad. Because you had a wank over him doesn’t link you to him over any of the others.
Me personally, I really liked his look and his scenes and feel very sad that he has died.
Scott was one of my favorite performers. His personality really showed in everything he did. Thanks for all the fun memories Scott – I’ll miss you…

He was bisexual. GAY FOR PAY is not a thing. Gays peddling this are the problem.
Incredibly sad . So many young men in porn whose lives end tragically like this. There needs to be more support given to them.
Yes the adult entertainment industry needs to do more the health and mental health. I was always taught you cannot take all the time, sometimes you need to give back. This industry needs to do that.

This is so sad. He had a similar story to Jamie (Sean Cody). Both came from very conservative (MAGA) religious families, started in gay porn at 18, married women, became addicted to drugs, got divorced and took their own lives.
