We’ve got some good news and some bad news for anyone that went out to see the Nicole Kidman vehicle The Northman this past weekend. The good news? In addition to the inclusion of the Academy Award-winning Nicole Kidman, this movie also features a sword fight with some full-frontal shots of Alexander Skarsgård. The bad news? His genitals were CGI and totally not the real thing.
During a recent Northman red carpet event, director Robert Eggers confirmed the crotch shot’s artificiality to The Hollywood Reporter and even explained why the actor, who has appeared nude in countless projects in the past, wasn’t actually showing off his real meat. According to the director, the choice to not show cock seems to have nothing to do with modesty and almost everything to do with not wanting to take a blade to the crotch.
“They were actually having to add things digitally, because they were wearing thongs, because no one wanted to get their bits chopped off,” relayed the film’s director. “So we actually had to add some CG genitals for certain shots so that they didn’t look too Ken Doll-ish.”
They didn’t just give Alexander Skarsgård a random dick though. Robert went on to explain that in order to make the CGI dong look real, the crew actually “did some full-body scans of Alex” for the battle scenes. He even added that the scans are apparently still “out there.”
Unfortunately, we doubt that we’ll ever get the chance to look at these digital scans of this man’s Skarsgård schlong, but if you for some reason have access to them, please let us know. In the meantime, I guess we’ll just spend our days looking at all of Alexander’s previous nude moments.
