Highs & Lows From Grabbys Weekend

With the European-based Prowler Awards now rebranded as the Grabby Awards Europe, we had two Grabby ceremonies to watch over the weekend. You can check out all the winners for Grabby Awards America and Grabby Awards Europe on The Sword, but what about the actual shows? Relegated to virtual status once again due to the pandemic, they had a lot of things to love…and a few that had us scratching our heads.

Here are our highs and lows from the weekend!

HIGH: The ever-widening smile of Cade Maddox has he picked up not one, not two, but three awards on the night. “Thank you to Troy (Accola) for having a hot hole,” he shared for his Best Rimming win for Falcon’s Mind Fuck (he also won Hottest Cock and Hottest Top).

HIGH: The Alex Riley love. Shared Alex Roman, who won Best Director and Best Movie for Return to Helix Academy: “He was amazing. He was such a good improviser and really good at thinking like his character. I remember one of the last things we filmed after all the heavy emotional stuff was the bit where’s he just answering questions for the interview to the camera. He was just answering questions in character, and by the end of it he was like crying because he was so moved by it. He was just a really sensitive, sweet guy, and I’m really going to miss him. This one’s for him.” Added co-host Chi Chi LaRue: “May he rest in peace, and let’s take care of each other in this business.”

HIGH: Max Konnor accepting his Wall of Fame honor with some champagne and a kiss with his boyfriend. “I’ve gained so many friendships and worked with so many wonderful people, and I’m so grateful and I’m so honored.” See more of Max at Falcon!

HIGH: Super cute Trevor Harris’s genuine surprise and happiness at winning Hottest Twink, which he accepted with one of his adorable pooches. “This is so awesome, I did not expect to win this one, thank you to all the fans…I don’t know what else to say…I wasn’t expecting to win this!” See more of Trevor at Helix!

HIGH: Drew Dixon’s heartfelt speech upon winning European Pornstar of the Year. “I am speechless. I’ve been in the industry now for almost four years. I have given up my life to do this, and I’ve gone with so little at times, just so I could pay to get to the next shoot—to get a paycheck so I can get on a plane to the next shoot, so I can get a paycheck to get a bus to the next shoot. HIGH: Adam Killian in his Superman shirt. He was nervous about topping, and I said ‘You can do it!’ And we slayed it!”

HIGH: The tour of Europe. The Grabbys Europe was the better watch. Most of it had pre-recorded segments, highlighted by some great scenic shots during the nomination clips in two categories. George Mason of HungYoungBrit went to some historical sites in England, while Etienne Erik (owner, producer and director for Wrestling Male.com) gave us some amazing views from France.

HIGH: Colton Reece and his puppy dog eyes in his PSA for Pineapple Support, which has “filled the vacuum for something sorely needed in our industry…in the past year since we all last meet (virtually), mental health has become paramount, not only to our industry but to our communities as a whole, and if you are struggling with your mental health, know that you are loved, know that you are cared for, that you are cared about, and know that Pineapple Support has the resources and the care to provide the support that you need.” See more of Colton at Falcon!

HIGH: Phatrabbitkiller’s joy at winning the JustFor.Fans Fan favorite award “Wow, this is awesome. Two years in a row?” he said with a healthy laugh. “I must be doing something right. LOW: That whole Performer of the Year confusion at the Grabby Awards America was just strange. How do you not catch that?!

LOW: The sparse attendance by viewers and industry performers. Where was everyone?

LOW: Michael Boston’s bathroom break. The popular performer won a special Swiss Navy Lube Award (apparently voted on by fans for hottest use of lube) and was in attendance…but was MIA when his time to accept actually came (Michael! Stop putting things up that gorgeous butt for one minute!).

LOW: That duet from Europe hosts Louis Cyfer and Crystal Lubrikunt taking on the song “Kids” by Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue was, um…a choice. (I don’t know what hurts more right now…my ears or my eyes…)
